DVD parking break safety wire bypass Q???
as it says up top! im just wondering how to bypass the parking break wire? i was told by someone that all u need to do it ground it but i was looking for some more input!! if any of yall know please help me out! thank toph
even on an alpine there is ways of bypassing it. on the avic n2 there is no way due to the fact that is senses the gyro but speaking to some pioneer reps they said that its a software hack that needs to be done.
avic-n2 all you have to do is run rear video out to back up camera in,but you will end up with a small mess. i think near the top, something like caution image may be reversed.and you will have to run a toggle to the backup input wire,it will do either 12 volts ground or 12 volts pos.,you can program in avic menu.if you feed one side of toggle ground then feed the other side of toggle to avic, you would program avic for neg. trigger in,and vica versa for 12 volt +,as far as audio it will play the current source on the avic

</TD></TR></TABLE>Just wire it the way you are supposed to and back off on the E-brake adjustment a bit, so you can pull the E-brake lever on one "click", [or till the E-brake light in the dash comes on] but back it off enough so the brakes do not grab. Works real good if you get pulled over, you can say, yes officer I do have to apply the E-brake for the video to work, see, just remember to reef right up on the E-brake if you have to show him/her

you will get audio, the rear view camera does not mute audio,so the dvd you are playing will go out the rear video into the rear view camera and the audio will still play, ive done it a half a dozen times in the past month.
ps you guys will like the new avic d1,it won't play dvd, primarily nav. and audio,i just did one in a 03 carrera s4 ,wow the brake wire has to be tripped with a toggle but it also uses the speed sense signal ,so even if u use the toggle switch it senses the car not at a complete stop and it displys a message on screen then you have to clear(ebrake wire on-off 3 times),i just hope they do not apply this circuit to the rest of their dvd head units.
just from personal experience with the pioneer units and wiring them for display... there are actually two different ground wires. One runs to the black box where the constant also runs into, the other bypasses this box. It seems if you ground out the pb wire somewhere on the ground side of this box it works (sometimes it went into lockout mode when I'd hook up a video wire to the unit.. my guess is it had to do something with the video wiring grounding or something)... but if you connect it to the black wire that leads into the black box, the unit says invalid pb wire connection. Anyone open that black box and see what's in there? I tried to open a D1's, but it's sealed shut and I dind't want to crack it open as it was a customers
I personally would not buy the D1. i dont like the cut of its jib, it seems cheaply built. I have sold a couple though, because there are a lot of ppl out there that want the cheapest nav possible and dont care about dvds in the front.
