Warning for an 00-01 Yellow ITR owner in the Charlotte, NC UNIVERSITY area!
This may not be the best way to go about this, but I don't want this guys ITR to get stolen like my car was. To protect this ITR I don't want to say where we live, but I noticed an 00-01 yellow ITR has been parked at an apartment complex that I live at in the University area of Charlotte. Just to warn you, SEVERAL hondas/acuras INCLUDING mine have been stolen out of this complex and the surrounding area. PLEASE get a garage or something! I only lived here for a month until my car was stolen. I know it looks like a nice place and it is, but they are stealing cars daily from this area! I'm a police officer in the city, if I were you I would get a garage (thats where I keep my new car) If you need any other info just contact me via PM.
Hope the owner gets this, I'd hate to see yet another car get stolen from here

Why dont j00 leave the d00d a note eh? If a cop left me some information about something like this I'd prob buy him some coffee or bring him some Dunkin Doughnuts
Maybe leave it in an evelope you leave tickets in on his windsheild.

I may just ask the office manager to give him a heads up. Guess it's not a good selling point to tell someone interested in a place that it's an area/location high in auto theft. I don't really feel comfortable touching or leaving a note on the car though.
I still think you're still acting out in the kindness of your heart and just want to say thanks! You don't hear much about cops warning people of Type-R's getting stolen!

???? this is very strange.. your a cop, and you are not comfortable touching or leaving a note on the car?? are you kidding me? and if you are a true cop you could easily run the vin# or the plates and you would have the guys address let alone his phone number. and you can even get the guys work address if needed aswell as his phone number at work.
so you wouldnt even need to touch anything to let this guy know personally what the area is like.. let alone putting more trust within the community that the local police do care.

I already know where he lives, I live here as well lol! Also yes I can easily have the VIN and tag ran but thats not why I have the ability to run tags. As much as I would like to, I cant go around contacting every Honda/Acura owner via their tag number because their car may get stolen, thats not why I have the ability to run tags. I'm just going to give the office the heads up on Monday. I simply posted this here in hopes that he maybe is a member. It would suck for him to have his car stolen like mine was thats as far as it goes. I also can assure you that I am in fact a police officer. I was an officer in New Jersey, and now I was just hired here (hense the reason for the move from Jersey)

not saying your not a cop. i happen to be one aswell. from cop to cop its its just strange that you would take the time to post a thread here to let him know. when you could have easily done it quicker. who knows by monday that car could be gone.

Then you of all people should know that it would be an abuse of police powers to start running tags of cars that may get stolen in a city in which dozens of cars per day are stolen out of. I simply saw this car and because I'm a member here thought it would be a nice gesture to give the heads up. We have another officer who also rents here that gets half off her rent to be a "courtesy" officer. Like I said, I'll leave it up to her and the office to take it from here if they want. Of course if I see the guy out by his car I will say something though regardless. The only reason why I even mentioned that I am a police officer is because this is a very touchy subject and I don’t want anyone including him to think I have bad intentions. Just one Honda owner looking out for another...

Or maybe he just has enough respect for the owner not to touch the car.

well its not ulawful if your conduction an investigation. and since you know there are alot of car thefts in that area, it is easy to get the clearance to run the plates to check if it is a stolen vehicle, then once it comes up clear it wouldnt be an abuse of your powers to then drop a note or give a note to the owner that this is a high crime area.
and a telitype can be used to justify your act of making an investigation on or off duty...
eitherway i dont want to make an arguement here . were both on the same team. i would have done different. thats all.
but also you being a rookie with that department (not a rookie as an officer) could also have a part of not wanting to step on peoples toes aswell.

Cops eat bagels now-a-days, they are trying to change their image.
