2Hrs of pounding on the crankshaft
While working on my buddies ls/vtec, the crankshaft's end where the oil pump gear goes on was misshapen by the lathe the machine shop used to balance the crankshaft. My buddy didn't want to bring it back to the shop and get it fix because they lagged on balancing his crankshaft in the first place, so he got frustrated with the problem and filed the area that was misshapen and pound on the gear continuously with a block of wood for 2hrs till it fit all the way onto the crankshaft, and I was wondering if the bearings are all jacked up with this continuous pounding? Any input will help.
Brad when is the last time you mis-shaped the crank snout on your "balancing lathe"? Plus I am not sure he did't pound the oil pump on for 2hrs. Blaming the balance shop for a messed up keyway does not seem right.

hey thanks for the replys. We installed the motor into his 94 integra ls, and it cranks over and starts. It's so damn amazing after all those punishment the crank and the oil pulley have took. Now there is one problem and it's with the high idling. The motor idles fine if we start it and let it warm up, but when stepping on the brake, or taping the gas, or turning on the lights the rpm needle jumps to 1,300rpm. So any help here?
No one ever said it wouldnt start, its not a surprise the motor starts after what you did. But the effects of pounding on the crank wont show up during idle. It WILL show up during high rpm operation, and on your bearings and thrust washers.
