Please help, Koni/GC setup
My problem is that my gc sleeves will slide over the koni's snap ring. What gives? The rear gc sleeve has an offset/ledge inside it, but the front does not. Also, I did order the koni specific sleeves, atleast I think I did; it is part # 4540.02 (92-Prelude w/Koni). Did they send me the wrong sleeves? I waited till I had the rear shocks out of the car before discovering this, i need beer and a car I can drive.
there should be two black rings (~.5" tall if i remember correctly) that fit inside of the bottom of the sleeve, these sit on top of the circlip on the konis... if you don't have them, maybe GC forgot to include them.
are you anywhere near socal? i happen to have some extras...

hmm. i just moved here from the joliet area. ah well.

give GC a call, hopefully they'll send them out for you quickly. they were very prompt sending me my parts... good luck :

again, and unfortunatly, only the rear sleeves have the inner shoulder. I'm thinking they sent me the wrong sleeves, the inner diameter is about .5" larger than the koni's outer dia. Why can't I every get what I order?
Hope you like socal better than joliet, i would.

on some of their sleeves(the ones i have), the I.D. is about that much bigger, and the circlip-capturing ring i'm referring to interference-fits inside the bottom, acting to center the sleeve on the shock and 'capture' the circlip, so you may have the correct sleeves, just not the rings. GC also makes some sleeves that are machined to the koni's diameter, with a shoulder built-in to capture the circlip. these obviously don't need an adapter ring.
socal is alright, it's just a bit expensive, and the people are kinda strange.... though i haven't met any of the local h-t denizens just yet. i've met a lot of people that have that kinda glazed-over fanatic look in their eyes. it's a bit unnerving.

From my experience, most places are more expensive than joliet. And don't worry, most people involved in all activities/hobbies/sports, have the 'I know what I'm doing attitude' when they don't. At least that is the reason I get the glazed over look from most people' they don't know what is gong on. Thanks for the info, I need to contact ground control.
