Default would this be wise?

I drive a a 97 DX Civic Coupe, and it just hit like 155K on the engine, my car has its check engine light on, an my axels need to be replaced. On top of that, i have no power anything (windows/mirrors/locks), my carpets and seats look like crap (faded and dirty).

So heres the question, theres is this 98 HX coupe that is being sold that got rear ended. Basically the entire trunk got smashed in. But the engine runs perfectly (just hit 100K) it has power windows/locks/mirros, and the interior is great. It also comes with perfect conditioned HX rims. The kid is selling the whole car for 700 obo. Do you guys think it would be wise to pick up the car and swap all off good remaning parts of the car into my car? I think i can talk the kid down maybe to like $3/400 dollars, maybe 500 at the highest. Do you think I should do this? Keep in mind that im not experienced at all with cars. So id be doing a power window/lock/door conversion and a engine swap. What do you guys think I should do?

Id say grab it. It will be a great learning experience for you.

Plus you will have lots of extra parts you can sell like the interior pannels and dash.

If you want to get nitty gritty about it, you could even swap the interior harness + door harness thus making the power window swap very easy.

I would do it.....
It sounds like your car is in need.
I bet your car would treat you right for years to come. As for you not having experience......you only get it by doing it!!

First off, 155K is not that bad of mileage on a honda motor. Cel's are not very hard to fix, they can just be hard to diagnose sometimes, which H-T can help with. Unless you're blowing out black some, I wouldn't worry about swapping just yet. Replacing axles is not bad at all. Adding power windows/locks/mirrors are not too hard either. I have confidence that you can fix all the problems you are having by searching and reading the H-T archives, and making a few posts. Depending on what you have left over, you can make some decent money back parting it out, then just drop the rest of the chassis off at a junkyard.
My $.02

Edited + corrected, I'm an idiot (misread your post). I though you were going to drive the other one, LOL. Yeah, definitely do it.

Definitly go for it! Even if you pay the $700 he's asking for.

Buy it...That is a perfect learning experience for you and you will get a lot of your money back just selling the extra parts you have for it.

Definately go for it!! That is a good deal even at $700. You could part out the car for more then that!! Just buy a helms or even a chilton manual and whatever you can't figure out search till you drop on here. You will love it.
