d-series to b-series...???
i have a d17a motor in my 01' civic. but i want to swap a b-series motor into it.
-is it possible?
-how many mods have to made?
-if it's possible, which b-series is v-tech? B-16_?
-one step further...how much can i find a B-18 motor for? and will this fit.

You need a K-series motor, not a B-series. The work/money to make a B-series work on your 7g Civic would probably add up to the K-swap anyways and the K is a better engine. The base K20 swaps aren't too expensive anyways.

But they're not very good motors. If you can't go Type-S, then get a K24 rather than a base K20. Power output is the same. But at least you get alot of torque.

are you serious that the TSX motor will fit into my engine bay? will it fit without any mods? and you said there is a 2.4 liter series? and this motor also goes with the tranny i have? thats too good to be true.

The TSX will fit but you will need a rsx type s tranny or a ep3 tranny.
This swap is not for everyone though.. Especially if you are doing your own work it takes time.
If you are going to use a rsx type s swap, that will make your life easier. You are going to need little **** here and there if you do a k24a/k20a2 frank or a tsx motor with a K series tranny..

Getting Started
Place the car on a lift or on jackstands.
Disconnect the negative and positive battery cables and remove the battery.
Drain the fluids. (Oil, Transmission & Radiator)
Removing The Engine
Remove the wheels, lower control arms, and axles.
Remove radiator hoses.
Remove radiator.
Remove A/C lines and compressor. (Be sure to have the A/C system properly discharged by a qualified technician)
Remove throttle cable.
Remove all hoses attached to motor.
Remove engine-wiring harness from inside of cabin.
Remove all remaining connections on motor.
Remove the left and right engine mounts.
Unbolt the subframe and remove the stock motor from car.
Preparing The Engine Bay
If you have the Hasport wiring conversion, perform the radiator, fan switch, and Air/Fuel ratio sensor wiring.
Install the RSX power steering lines. (figure 1 and 2)
Using the stock hardware, bolt the left-hand Hasport steel bracket into place. (figure 3)
For cars with ABS the ABS bracket will have to be shortened so that it will not interfere with the left-hand mount.
After shortening the bracket a hole will have to be drilled through both the ABS bracket and Hasport engine bracket. (figure 4)
Use the M6 x 1.00 x 20mm bolt provided to bolt both the ABS bracket and the harness ground to the Hasport left-hand bracket. (figure 5)
Before bolting the right-hand bracket take the two M12 X 1.25 X 35mm bolt and put them through the bracket as shown in (figure 6). Place a thick and thin spacer on the bottom bolt and a thick spacer on the top bolt. This will allow you to mount the bracket flush to the frame rail.
Bolt the right-hand Hasport steel bracket into place. (figure 7)
Modify the core support to fit the new radiator and fans. (figure 8)
Gently bend the Civic fuel line and purge line so that the RSX lines can be installed. Be careful not to kink the lines. (figure 9)
Install The RSX shifter assembly and shifter cables.
Preparing The Motor
Switch the K20 engine coolant temperature sensor with the Civic coolant temperature sensor. (figure 10)
Remove the passenger side mount bracket from the engine. (figure 11)
Installing The Motor from the Bottom
Using the Hasport rear mount, bolt the K20 onto the K20 subframe.
Lower the car over the motor.
Bolt the sub-frame to the car.
After lowering the car onto the motor, lift the passenger side of the motor above the Hasport steel bracket with a jack. (figure 12)
Install the Hasport right-hand engine mount and tighten the bolts. Next, lower the engine so that the mount can be bolted to the bracket. Install the bolts but do not fully tighten it. (figure 13)
Install the left-hand mount. (figure 14)
Tighten the bolts holding the left and right mounts to the brackets.
Raise the car and install the axles.
Installing the Motor from the Top
Bolt the right-hand mount to the engine and tighten the bolts.
Lower the engine into the car and guide the right-hand mount into the right-hand bracket. Insert the bolt but do not tighten the bolt yet.
Install the left-hand mount and then and tighten the bolts. Now tighten the right-hand mount bolt.
Install the Hasport rear mount on the subframe.
Raise the car and install the subframe
Install the axles
Finishing
Install the RSX Cat
Install necessary fluids (water, engine oil, transmission fluid, blinker fluid, etc)
Install A/C components and have system properly charged
Install radiator and hoses
Run the wiring harness through the firewall and connect the ECU
Have the ECU’s immobilizer reprogrammed by a Honda/Acura service department.
Hook Up Any remaining connections.
The immobilizer:
Last, for driving the car over to Honda to get the RSX ECU flashed to accept the Civics key code, you should be able to drive on the Civic ECU for a short distance. Make sure you bring the VIN information with you from the RSX. People with a non-US engine may have to find another option.
Other things:
With our Civic we opted to use the RSX knuckles, hubs and brake assemblies, so we also used the RSX axles. The RSX axles can be use with the smaller Civic hubs if you change the outer joints to those of the GSR or Civic Si. Our Civic was an auto, so some wiring then had to be done to hook up the park/nuetral safety switch to the clutch pedal switch. Hey I hope this sheds some light on what is involved in the swap. We will have more pictures on our web site as we further modify the car. Also look in the near future for the first K24 swap as we build a big block for our Civic and soon we will be doing a K24A Accord engine and tranny swap into a 01 Civic.
1) The Civic's engine bay has the same dimensions as the Civic Si, not the RSX. For that reason the RSX base model engine's intake manifold will not clear the core support.
2) The Civic Si radiator is a better fit than the RSX radiator, due to the location of the filler cap. The stock radiator's hose necks are in awkward positions and do not work well.
3) You will need the RSX or Civic Si subframe.
4) The 01-02 Civic engine harness contains the wiring for the primary O2 sensor, but not the RSX or Civic Si engine harness. This is a necessary part for code free operation so it has to be added. In the RSX or Si it is called the AFR (air fuel ratio) sensor, There is also a relay that goes along with it. The 01-02 Civic HX uses the same part. Use the HX wiring diagram for proper hookup. This part is for you Htown, it will fix your check engine light.
5) If you want powersteering, you will need to cut away some of the hood's underside support for pulley clearance. Use the RSX P/S hose, and return line.
Make no mistake.. this is not cheap....
Major difference from all other K series swaps is that you need a RSX or 02+ Civic Si Sub Frame
We are talking $$$ here
Good luck
PS You can always trade it in and buy a new 2006 Honda Civic Si witha k20a with LSD
it depends on a few factors...
-how much you owe on your car
-how much you are willing to pay
-how confident you are doing work on your own... because once you get a hybrid honda... it is not the smartest thing to take it to the dealership

HASPORT did this a while back but it made sense $$wise because it was a theft recovery etc...

where does the hybrid come from? what do you mean?
i owe a good amount on my car...i was just trying to get the info for now, this way when it comes down to it, i can just get everything i need.
my friend did all the swapping and mod-ing to his car...so thats not a problem.
...and i won't buy anything cheezy. so i guess i have to pay what i have to pay, right?
