2000 GSR motor in a 2000 Civic DX hatch

I tried starting the motor last night, and when I filled it up with coolant I noticed a leak.

The problem was the fact that a water/coolant hose that goes from under the intake manifold into the firewall was bent in a way it should not have been bent, causing the hose to crack and leak coolant.

The best way to desribe which hose it is through this picture (this is not my car, I took the picture off the hybridperf site) - the hose shape is drawn in red:



The hose plugs into a metal tube under the intake manifold, curves and goes into a plug on the firewall. There are two plugs sitting on the firewall, right between the charcoal canister and the proportioning valve. If you are looking at the car as you would be in the picture, the hose plugs into the plug on the right.

So, I need to buy a new hose, but I don't know whether I need a civic one or an integra one. Could someone please help me out?

Get one for the 2000 Si, since it's made for B-series in your chassis.

 

Actually not only is the hose different but the water valve also is different. There are no stock hoses that fit unless you use a 2000 Si water valve. I would get a length of hose from the Auto Parts store or get the Si water valve and corresponding hose. I have already dealt with this myself and I used water hose form the parts store.

 

The water valve technically is different but the hose is the same for DX-Si. I put a B16 in a 98 hatch and had no trouble at all hooking up hoses, no leaks or anything. Also jut did an LS into a 98 hatch no issues with those particular hoses, used the stock DX ones.

 

I figured it out with the help of another member as well as an Acura dealer.

So, to set the record straight - you HAVE to use a GSR hose if you are using a GSR motor in a civic. The B16a2 is different from B18C1, which is why the civic hoses will work with the Si motor. However, with the GSR, the civic hose gets bent and pinched, and does not work properly.

I got the hose this morning from a local Acura dealer (one of four dealers in the country that stocked the part!!!). I'll try it on tonight to find out for sure, but as far as I can tell by looking at it it's a perfect fit. I will post a pic of the hose later tonight when I get home.

Hopefully this thread helps someone that is in the same situation as me!

Couldn't get a pic but I can confirm that you need a GSR hose to use in the civic. Part number for this hose is 79725-ST7A01.

It goes around all obstacles in its path and fits perfectly, unlike the civic hose which is straight and does not fit at all.
