Default who has vtec

I have been reading a lot of posts about older cars that have vtec, so i was wondering, does my 1999 Civic EX have vtec, and if not, why didn't it come with vtec?

All 1992-2000 Honda Civic EX and Si models came with VTEC from factory.

Only way to test it is by flooring your car. If your eyeballs get thrown to the back of your head and your car lunges forward with the power of a space rocket, and everything around you becomes a blur because of the rate of speed you're accelerating at, oh yeah, you have VTEC.

You have VTEC. I HIGHLY doubt anyone swapped a non-VTEC in your car.

since your car is a 99 there is probably a build of grease on the engine block. get some degreaser a spray and wip off with a rag. your engine code should be d16y8 if you say it's a ex.

The plate with your engine code is on the front of the engine, right where the block meets the tranny. Like on here: http://img.photobucket.com/alb...e.jpg (This engine is an H22a).

Just like in the picture above... here is a link to a picture of a CIVIC EX VTEC head. Take notice of the cylindrical gismo at the top left of the image on the head. This is where yours sits. AND, like in the picture above, there should be a wiring harness that goes into a GREEN plug. Trust us... YOU HAVE VTEC.

If you want to hear it kick in... Get an intake. Don't get an exhaust. For us with SOHC VTEC, you won't ever really FEEL it. But you can hear it. Just... Move on. Oh yeah... And I got VTEC too.
