where to buy Viper w/out installation
did u try those stereo shop around san diego area like on clairemont and convoy area. plenty of alarm places there with viper alarms
Authorized dealers wont sell with out install unless you know someone. DEI wont warantee it unless an "authorized" dealer installed it. **** that, I WAS an authorized dealer, so i found a DEI seller on ebay and got one from him.
Ebay was the first place I tried. I watched it for a couple of days. You can get all the remotes, sensors, sirens you want, but no one sells the Viper 5000. They only have the 791XV.
A HT member offered to sell me one. If the transaction goes smooth, I'll vouch for him.
How do you become an authorized dealer? I filled out the form and I'm waiting for a reply, but I'm wondering if I have to pay a fee or take their classes.

Well, it's now about 9 months since this thread started, but if anyone's still looking for a non-installed Viper 5000... (most of the Google results I found were either for unavailable products or for installation inclusive purchases)
http://www.bargainunlimited.co...o=209
My order took 5 days from the time I ordered it to the time I received it, and everything looks intact. The only "problem" was that the Order Status screen simply showed "Ordered" up until the day I received it. It didn't update to "Shipped" until the day I got it, and it still doesn't show a Tracking #... Whatever... I'm happy.
I immediately opened the box and read the first page of the Owner's Guide...
The Limited Lifetime Consumer Warranty (Copyright Protected):
Directed Electronics, Inc. ("Directed") promises to the original purchaser to repair or replace with a comparable reconditioned model any Direced unit (hereafter the "unit"), excluding without limitation the siren, the remote transmitters, the associated sensors and accessories, which proves to be defective in workmanship or material under reasonable use during the lifetime of the vehicle provided the following conditions are met: the unit was professionally installed and serviced by an authorized Directed dealer; the unit will be professionally reinstalled in the vehicle in which it was originally installed by an authorized Directed dealer; and the unit is returned to Directed, shipping prepaid with a legible copy of the bill of sale or other dated proof of purchase bearing the following information: consumer's name, telephone number and address; vehicle license number and vehicle identification number. All components other than the unit... carry a one-year warranty from the date of purchase of the same.
(Based on the above, which came with my Viper5000)
In summary, Buying a DEI unit online *WILL NOT* void the Limited Lifetime Consumer Warranty that accompanies it, as there is no mention regarding the conditions of PURCHASE (only INSTALLATION). Installation of the Unit by anyone other than "an Authorized Directed Dealer" *WILL* void the Warranty. Similar requirements apply to peripherals, and their 1-year warranty.
So if you'd like to still have the warranty intact, then all you'd have to do is find a place that'll install someone else's sale (good luck!). And if you don't care, then WTF???
Well, I don't know what kind of availability they have left, but I got mine quick at a pretty good price. So if anyone's looking...

go to a shop and buy one and setup an appoitment to come back and have it installed. take the alarm with you and dont go back. just make sure you tell them you will pay for labor when you come back. they probably wont think twice about it and you will have an alarm. if not we sell them at my work Ill get you one and ship it to you.

DEI is a huge company that sells a lot of product. They have several different marketing lines, if you are accepted, you will get one of the lines to choose from (IE: Viper, Sidewinder, Valet, Python etc..) then you will have a minimum quota of how much you have to purchase from them each month... which is no problem if you own a shop really.

alot of time.. the installation is included in the price. I sell vipers and pythons at my store and we include the install which is usually 100 bucks. but retail has markups so im sure you can find it somewhere...
and as for paying for the install at time of install.. most places want you to pay in full all at once.
i got my python700 for 120. Installed it myself. I doubt i will have the car after antying happens to the unit. but you never know.

The Viper5000 I purchased from BargainUnlimited.com DID include the installation instructions.
It came with: Control Module, 4-button 2-way LCD transmitter, 4-button transmitter, Main Harness (12-pin), Aux Harness (8-pin), Door Lock Harness (7-pin), Immobilizer Harness (3 wires), Transceiver Harness, Tranceiver/Antenna, Valet Switch/Wiring, Blue LED Wiring, 514N Siren, A single AAA battery, Belt Clip for the LCD, and one more 2-to-1 wire that I can't yet identify.
It ALSO included: Product Registration Card, Patent Sheet, Installation Guide, Owner's Guide, and 2 VIPER decals.
I hope you were asking me... If not, then oh well. GL!

calling aroudn asking wont get you much, cuz they are not allowed to sell it so they dont want to get in trouble. i'd just walk into some stores and ask them in person, you'd have better luck getting them to sell it.
The white heat-shrinked 2 to 1 wire is a diode. They're not often used. I have a big pile of them that I sometimes use to splice in sensors.
The Viper 5000 is a newer updated DEI alarm, 2 way paging w/out remote start. You can plug it into a Viper 791 main harness, swap the antennas, and it will work (w/out remote start of course and except for the door locks). The Viper 5000 has an internal, remotely adjustable shock sensor while the 791 is external and has to be adjusted with a small screwdriver. The Viper 5000 has the start kill relay internal while the 791 has it built into the remote start relay satellite. They have different antennas. The remote screens are oriented differently. For the most part, the differences are minor and only matter to the installer.
Don't rely on those long lists of features.
