Will dealer give shit about short shifter if tranny has problem?
It really just depends on your dealership's stance on aftermarket parts/import modification...
But, yes, they'll probably give you a problem -- stating that you could have misshifted and stuff.

yeah i can see a short shifter ******* you over at the dealer when it comes down to tranny problems...
mainly because a tranny can only shift so fast.. and u can max that speed with a normal shifter.. a short shifter is just gonna end up forcing your tranny into gear... which is bad

most of the people in this thread have been denied service because they have mods that effect related parts. For example a short shift should have anything to do with your alternator going out. I would say if you want to go in for a tranny problem you should either put in your original shifter or grab your ankles

These are problem that don't typically happen with similar cars during the warranty period. If I was the service manager, and someone came in with aftermarket wheels requesting warranty work for a wheel bearing in which case the aftermarket wheels had greater offset than stock, you'd bet that customer would be paying for all work.
And for the other case, I would also charge the customer to replace a compressor if had aftermarket pulleys. I can definitely see how pulley could contribute to a broken compressor.
Both were very reasonable for charging your friends.

I had one dealer try to get out of fixing my tranny because i had an aftermarket headunit. They fixed it, after i threw a fit tho. yet, i took my car to another dealer with rims, suspension, exhaust and CIA. And the fixed another problem with the engine, plus they could stop telling me how awsome my car looked.
So it just depends on where you go.

If u dnt want to grab your ankles at the dealership go to the sema website and do some research. There is a federal law stating that dealerships cannot deny a warrranty unless they can prove that the specific performance part caused the damage. They probaly won't do this because they have to do a expensive test. THe law is on your side my friend so do the research and use the law to your advantage. I can't believe they still want to mess with our warrantys after the civic nation commecials had hundreds of hondas with turbos, intercoolers, rims, bodykits the whole shabang(did anyone see those commercials?)
Yes they will.......i worked at acura a while ago and after i purchased my RSX-S the first thing all the techs told me was to NOT get a short shifter..... apparently dont get the comptech either ,they all tend to mess up the tranny synchros , soo id say YEP they will pitch a fit...
