Default 5th gen Prelude... 100 shot. Bah...

OK... tell me if this seems right... haha...
5th gen Prelude, header, intake, exhaust, FPR, VAFC.

Here's the fun part. Supposedly 100% stock internalled, running a 100 shot.

His best time was a 14.37x at 100mph. But the others were 14.50 and 14.70 at 101. Trap speeds were nice, but... the TIMES?

I know he had spray, cause I watched him purge, but wouldn't you guys think he'd be in the 13's with those mods? Not mid-high 14's? I mean, I ran a 14.72 STOCK... much less with bolt ons and a friggin 100 shot! LOL!!!!!!!!

He can run a 100 shot on stock internals. My question is how much wheel spin did he have?

He must have had horrible wheel spin, cause with just the bolt ons, he would have been in the mid to high 14's, and the 100 shots of nitrous is going to drop at least a second off, and he should be running mid 13's. Thats why I am going to use a nitrous mastermind, not only does it help protect from detonation, but it lets you control the nitrous flow, so I can minimize wheel spin. From what I have heard, wheel spin can ruine any chance of having a good run, unless you have an 800whp Supra.

i can believe the stock internal part but the 14.3? wtf? is the track wet or what? thats only 5 tenths faster than my car and i dont have the vafc or the fpr. i would imagine 13's easily.

He probably sprayed in first, and didnt get traction till 3rd gear. I have heard of people breaking into the 13's with a 60shot with no other mods, so a 100 shot with all those mods he should be crazy fast. Fine tuning and drag radials, I would bet very high 12's are possible. It all come down to the driver, a 10 second car isnt a 10 second car when a 20 second driver is behind the wheel.

I think we all can agree either the guys never learned to drive well, or he didn't properly tune his car. i.e. dyno.

I have suspension mods, but only an AEM for power mods. I'm not really interested in spending $500+ for an exhaust, and another $350-400 for a header, when the power gains for those two mods are so pitiful. Most of the stuff I've read, says I'd gain MAYBE 5-10 hp at the wheel, if even that...

A Nitrous system could add 50-100 hp in one simple bolt on. Sure it might cost $1000 to do it right, but that's what one would spend on a header/exhaust, and the power gains are totally different.

my big question is..... how safe is nitrous really for a daily driver Prelude with a totally stock motor? Say a 50 shot, a dry system, shooting the nitrous into the intake manifold... or maybe a plate kit if they make one.

is it safe...reliable...what do you need to install along with the bottle to make it safe...

how many of you run nos and how often do you use it..

just curious.

I wouldn't be such a big promoter of nitrous if it blew motors. As long as you're smart about it you'll be fine. By being smart I mean:
1. Check all four plugs for detonation after every run.
2. Wait at least 15 minutes between runs while spraying.
3. Don't spray below 3000 rpm
4. Don't spray in 5th gear
5. Don't spray for more than 15 seconds.
6. And go to a dyno and make sure that your A/F ratio is perfect when you're spraying. And there is a dyno in your area, I don't care where you live.
I'll be spraying a 75 shot, but it will only be on race nights and only for money or a good challenge. I won't be wasting any nitrous on a 13+ second car.

sounds like NOS is a pain in the ***.

I want something I can bolt on and use and not have to worry about.

If you want to go fast you are going to have to know your set up and be prepared to do alot of extra maintenance. If you don't want to deal with it buy some bolt ons and make sure that you don't rev on anything with a 13 sec ET or less.

Actually standard nitrous kits are probably the most trouble free thing you can do, as long as you play it smart. As for JRSC, screw that. Gains of a whopping 60hp at full boost, compare that to a good Turbo kit that will put that out at 6psi. Yes, the SC will have less maintanance than the Turbo kit, but if you want to go any faster than high 13's, the SC will be a waste of your money.

Where did you see this guy run at? Sounds like a guy I know. Guy named Nathan w/ a silver BB6 in Tennessee. Is this the guy?

I retract my previous statement about the JRSC. Why, cause I am considering it. Funny how that works isnt it. Somthing isnt such a good idea until you have considered it. THe most WHP you will see out of the JRSC is about 240, which isnt bad, will probably get you into the mid to high 13's. Most muscle cars will have a hard time beating you. JR also has a boost upgrade, I emailed them about it, but they say its not out for the Prelude. I emailed them back about specialty orders for a boost upgrade, have to wait and see what they say. If you need more power, nitrous is always an option, think of it, a tricked out H22 with the JRSC, plus 75shots of nitrous. 350whp good enough for ya, if not, tune till your satisfied.

The JRSC costs at least as much as a turbo. Why would you want to limit yourself like that? JRSCs are reliable because they don't put down any real power.

Maybe some people might a little extra boost in power w/o the added maintenance of a turbo that superchargers offer. Im not a big drag racing fan, its cool to see cars go fast in a straight line b/c I awe the power they make but Im a speed+turns junkie. Thats why Im getting a Jackson over turbo. I like having daily driveable torque @ 2k rpm and the ability to power around turns without the worries of peaky turbos. Just my 2 cents.

I completely agree, but he's not hitting 10s or 11s with a JRSC.

Hahahaha... try telling that to a guy I know that blew his H22A4 up within two weeks of putting on his JRSC. LOL

That's a bitch. Was he tuned? I mean seriously, think about it. I'll have close to 240 whp after I have my nitrous tuned and I'll have spent less than a 3rd of the money.

Your probably right laughin. Now that you mention it, if you want any real times, its gota be nitrous or Turbo. $10 says I will end up going back to DP Fogger, every time I change my mind, I end back up at the same decision. I am curious, what kind of times are you lookin for laughin? And what kind of times are possible weith nitrous? I would gues that you could break into 12's with nitrous, not sure about 11's. Obviously this would require a rebuilt engine and all the other stuff that will come along. Also, would it be a good idea to have a mechanic install the DP fogger kit? Or is it easy enough for me and a few friends to do?

1. I want to run low 12s, but I'll probably get greedy and go for 11s.
2. A friend of mine that works at Xtreme Accesories in GB is helping me install it. I'll end up taking enough pics to give you a very good idea of how it goes.

Yeah, it'll be at the shop in 2.5 weeks.
Corey, you know I can run a nice dry shot on your 4G to give you a little extra oomph down VIRs back straight. I wouldn't want any ITRs passing you.
