vss code 17
i have a 88 hatchback w/d16z6 sohc vtec motor...using jkobd obd0-1 conversion harness....chipped p28 ecu from hyperducktuning.com....problem is that im getting code 17...but my speedometer works and the vss is fine...im using a mechanical sensor...would the ecu be looking for an electronic one????cuz im using mechanical...im using an 89 crx si cluster...i was wondering is there a way to fix it???
also the cluster i got from the crx si has a blue plug on the back??? what is it for?? because i dont have anything to plug in it...it has 2 wires coming from it and both screwed on to the cluster on seperate sides??
So I am assume you are running an OBD I ECU---after everything is said and done. I would think, if that's the case, install an electric VSS and go from there.
BUT we have to know what Hybrid ECu you are running.
Oh yeah, you still runnin the D16Z distributor??
That would speak volumes.

im using hyperducktuning p28 ecu chipped using vision program....still using d16z6 obd1 dizzy....used jkobd conversion harness...i dont want to swap it to an electronic vss...i was wondering is there a way to get rid of the code juss using what i have...
If all that considered then in the conversion harness/ECU, the wire from the OBD 0 harness in your car, from the mechanical speedo to ECU would be connected.
You can connect a electronic VSS sensor. All you need is the sensor and time. I can send you the sensor, just pay for shipping. Besides the fact, you need to hook up the ground side of the VSS sensor (usually green/black) to the common sensor ground found at T-stat housing. The G101 ground, for you seniors. The middle is usually the signal wire, a yellow/Blue or yellow/white. That needs to go to B10 to the ECU harness that is still OBD1 ( GOD if that makes sense.) The left over wire needs to see 5v reference, which can be tied into Map sensor or TPS sensor 5v source wires.
Give me a couple hours and I will find the wire from the dash cluster to ECU and tap into it for the mechanical option.
Perhaps I didnt explain it well enough, but I will help you figure it out.

This isn't true. We figured out our mistake after he thought this up.

Fair enough, if you have the means. Good enough, good enough. I am just saying to the general audience. I hate st*% half-assed. I am not speaking directly about this topic, but more in general.
Hey so you burn an OBD 0/1 chips??? I am interested
