what motor mounts for a d16z6 into a crx??
im going to put a d16z6 in to my '90 crx i was told to use ef motor mounts on the z6. the problem is the (timing belt side) mount from the ef wont line up right when i try to install it on the z6. (also on the mount..there is a nut welded on to the mount so im not sure how it would fit on a z6) what mounts will work????

Use the stock ones that were on your CRX. You need to use all of them. There is one on the engine side (Driver side) that looks like an "L" and two bolts hold it to the block, you need to use that one from the CRX and then the one that bolts to it that looks like a circle and holds it to the chassis. Since your staying with the same tranny, the other 3 mounts that you have to use are from the CRX.

Try to find someone that has an electric impact dun to get the crank pulley off. If not take your motor to the local tire store and they will be able to get it off with the air impact gun. If you dont want to do that then take a little torch or something and melt the plastic around the crank pulley so you can get the timing cover off.

hey, you said the engine was out of the car put the tra nny in gear and try it that way if you dont have a tranny on it brace the fly wheel
I agree with tinytimcrx. That's not a bad idea. Im guessing the tranny is also out so just bolt it up to the engine and put it in gear. If the engine starts turning then just get a small bar that fits in one of the wholes in the crankshaft pulley and slide it all the way in so it grabs part of the engine and thenturn the pulley bolt. The engine should not turn if you do this.
I also took that mounting plate with the engine out of the car, but i just cut the cover.

bolt the tranny to the engine outside. If the linkage is out then connect the linkage to the tranny and put it into gear. You might be able to put it into gear if you use a screw driver and put it inside the whole where the tranny linkage connects and move it down. If it doesnt work, then i would just cut the cover.
