For all those who tote a '88 CRX ...(gutted I hope)
Winter is soon aproaching. I bought my '88 CRX Si last November without anything inside but a seat, steering wheel and gauge cluster hooked up to the speedo cable. Last winter was cold and I found out having no heat feels like. It sucks *** everyday. Since then I've pieced the interior of the car together and it's not bad. I tried pulling the heater out of my 89 CRX DX in hopes that it would fit. It does not. I've compared the wiring in both the cars and found something that pissed me off. In the 88, there is only one connection going to where the heater should be. However, in the 89 there are two connections. ****! The connection wire they both have in common only appears to control the direction of the air (top vent, bottom vent, defrost, etc).
My next thought was: Maybe the last guy cut the wire. So I rip up my newly installed carpet trying to find something cut. Nothing. It looks like that wiring had never been touched.
Now, my cry for help. If there is anyone out there with an 88 CRX Si like mine, please help me out. Do you have two connections going to your heater (or where your heater would be)? I really don't think mine's been cut and am wondering if the heater was controlled by the one connection that I have sitting inside my car.

From 89-91 the heater controls are all electronic. in the 88's there is a cable that controls the blower unit. I read that in my helms manual. I'll geta pic up later..

It doesn't get ridiculous or anything but it just sucks. Especially getting off of work at 7 in the morning and you've gotta drive home in mid-December with the windshield all frosted. It sucks *****

Well, I'm deployed and I get back in September. I don't want to wait until it starts getting cold to look around for a heater. Not to mention the fact that the longer I take to find one, the lower my chances will probably of finding one. And yes, Louisiana does get cold. When you get in your car in the morning and the windshield is covered in ice and completely frosted, you think to yourself: it's cold and this sucks.
