I've been looking at the Illuminas for my '90 4dr, but I'm getting confused, as well as stumped by the search button. I know the BU2797A/BU2798A are for labeled for the civic, but somewhere it said "except S/W" (maybe SEDAN/WAGON?). I also know that the BU2797/BU2798 is for the 88+ crx.
My two problems are:
1) the ebay sets include the BU2797/BU2798, how are they different from the BU2797A/BU2798A shocks?
2) if using a DA rear suspention (brakes/trailing arm/LCA), do I need civic or teg Illumina rear shocks? (having a hard time finding teg lca pics)
Thanks for any answers, $50+ saved on ebay over online stores is still $50.

I'm guessing #2 answer is civic shocks, since they don't say to use teg shocks with a rear disc swap. Still Puzzled about Q #1
the difference between BU2797A/BU2798A and BU2797/BU2798 is that the -A parts have an extra bracket for the brakelines. there was a change after 88 on the brakeline routing, and its just a difference of an extra bracket where the brake lines bolt up to.
S/W probably stands for "station wagon" sedans should have the same shock dimensions. the wagons had longer springs and lower perches in the rear. im not sure if the fronts were any different tho, except maybe in valving.
even if you used DA rear trailing arms and LCA, you should still use the proper civic shocks. DA shocks are longer i believe, give less shock travel. it will fit in fine.
but why are you even using DA LCA? you should have used your old civic LCA.

Thanks for the insight, brake line routes aren't a big deal really. With luck its just that inner bracket with the upside-down bolt that's the 'missing' addition.
The reason for DA lca's is for a rear disc swap and/or [mainly for] DA rear sway bar addition. They fit in, I just couldn't remember if their shocks were forked bottoms or contained inside a stamped arm like EK's (iirc). Someone said DA shocks were moved towards the wheel a bit more than EF's.
Thanks.

actaully, now that you mention it, DA rear LCA are the odd *****. they have the shock mount closer to the wheel. however, im not sure how much of a difference thats going to make for you.
but when you do the DA brake swap, youre supposed to use the stock arms. i would find some Si arms if you really want to keep your rear swaybar. i guess try it out with your DA arms, itll still fit. it just wont have the stock geometry.
