Rossi not popular??? motoGP not popular?
well im watching two wheel tuesday, and the host was talking about valentino rossi, and he said hes not well known here.... ummm i think anyone in sportbikes knows who he is. also, i work in a honda dealership and i was susposed to go to motoGP but couldnt cause of scheduling conflicts, but anyway, i was talking to some customers (about going to motoGP) and they were like "whats motoGP"! god i want to smack some people
Yeah, surprisingly, not everyone spends 100% of their free time on the internet keeping track of all the latest news in motorcycle racing. Heck, until I started reading this motorcycle section on HT a few months ago, I would've thought Rossi was some sort of figure in Greek history, and MotoGP some spinoff of F1 racing or something.

That is sad man. I've always known who Rossi was, and Rainey, and Schwantz, and Mimola (spelling on that one?) and Lawson, Hayden....whatever I guess Ijust like racing.

You don't have to be a fanatical follower of motorcycle racing to know who Rossi is. He has dominated the sport for the past five years, even if you only checked out a race a handful of times in the last few years you'd know who he is.
It surprises me how many people have supersport bikes that aren't the least bit interested in bike racing. The performance of all of the street bikes has a lot to do with what has been learned and developed for the race bikes.
I think motorcycle racing is getting more popular by leaps and bounds here though.

Yeah. I watched the news and they said Rossi isn't well known in America. But in Europe, he has people all over his ***. They even crowd around his house. Anyone here record Moto GP? I dont have the speed channel.
Motorcycle racing is a extremely popular in the rest of the world. I dont know why it doesnt catch on here in the states, how much fun is watching a bunch of cars drive around in a circle all day.

according to rossi, he loves it in america because he can just walk around without getting hounded by fans. but in italy, he walks 1 meter and he is bombarded with fans.

When i think of MotoGP the first name that comes to mind is Rossi. WTF?!?!?! What rock are Americans hiding under? When i was at the race some ppl were talking in front of us and they were like, Man i didnt even know motogp was coming here. I guess they went for the AMA racing. AMA is to CFL as MotoGP is to NFL.
two wheel tuesdays??? speed channel??? they still show sport bikes on speed???? Hmmmm would of never figured with nascar and everything else on speed. Hmmm........
yea whats with nascar nation on two wheel tuesday? i mean ****! we get 1 damn day for bikes on tv, and then they put nascar **** on. i dont care if i watch reruns of every ******* race, i want motorcycle racing (dirt or street) onn all day on tuesday. theres car racing on all week. and when the races arent on, put like corbins ride on, or american thunder on in between....DO YOU HEAR THIS SPEED CHANNEL? YOUR LOYAL WATCHERS ARE TALKING TO YOU!!!!!!!!!
I went to the Speed Channel booth in Laguna Seca during the MotoGP weekend and asked them why they show 99% Nascar. I didnt get an answer from them.
Some midwest guys waiting in line with me were talking about how riders in their area don't know MotoGP. They said they get people saying this: "Valentine Rosey, never heard of the guy."

Who care's if someone doesn't know who VR is? Insulting NASCAR or any other form of racing does not validate moto GP. I watch it sometimes but could honestly care less. Am I any less of a rider? I feel the same way about most sports. I don't watch because I don't support the enormous salaries they make. I don't understand the attitude that anyone is a superior biped simply b/c they know who someone "is". Go to Europe and ask who Kellen Winslow is. Would you know who Giacomo Agostini is off the top of your head?
I think Kellen Winslow is a bad example. If you go to Europe and ask who Michael Jordan or Magic Johnson, i think they would know who they are. I dont think Rossi is in the same category as a Kellen Winslow. Jordan or Magic would be in the same category as Rossi.
But you got a point. It dont matter if you know Rossi or what not, it doesnt make you any better than anybody.

Schumacher said the same thing.
I had to explain what MotoGP is to every person I told about looking forward to watching a motorcycle race last weekend.

I've only heard of Rossi recently when I heard some biker pals of mine making fun of each other saying "you're a regular Rossi dude" and I just figured it was some superstar racer.
Even though I like bikes, own one, etc. it doesn't mean I follow the Moto GP stuff.
I'm familiar with the Hayden family, Schwantz (sp?), etc. but I guess I'm just another squid for not knowing who Rossi was until recently.
BTW:
Go Tony Stewart!!!
