Default Sparks Racing Header CTR motor Test 1

Well, my dyno mule that i used in my Header Test Pt1 is out of town right now, so i couldnt use it to test it to see how it would stack up against the RMF, SMSP, Hytech, ANR etc.
But heres what i did, STR8DRIFT was kind enough to let me borrow his 1995 EG coupe with a Civic Type-R motor. The motor is BONE STOCK

My tuner wasnt able to make it so THERE WAS NO TUNING DONE ON THE MOTOR and the wideband was run over by a customer so A/F couldnt be logged

Anyways, all i did was do 2 pulls with the STOCK CAST MANIFOLD (NOT JDM) vs SPARKS header to see the difference. the results speak for themselves. there is MORE POWER TO BE HAD

This is just a simple bolt on and go, no tuning, and obviously no a/f. so i feel bad posting this , but there was pressure on me to produce something so heres what i came up with. I should have my JDM ITR Mule back this week, I might test in on a nother motor i know locally thats built.

Pics:
Car/Charles from mainstream looking retarded

The all important dyno graph

Cliff notes
BOLT ON 5whp and 3 TQ WITH NO TUNING, pretty impressive on a 1.6l. This could easily see 7-10whp once i get my tuner over here to iron out vtecI use Uberdata and my tuner and his software had prior engagements, so this is kinda half assed which i usually dont do.

PLEASE NO BASHING, I WILL BE MUCH MORE THOUROUGH WHEN MY 1.8l is available. just salivate on this for a min

BIG THANKS TO CHARLES AT MAINSTREAM PERFORMANCE FOR LETTING ME USE HIS DYNO. if you are in the area , dont hesitate to call 678-567-9384 to schedule an appt to tune

not bad, seems to be a good header for the price.

So did Sparks end up paying you or giving you the header?

the original deal was i keep the header, but honestly, i cant divulge that info, thats between me and the manufacturer. i usually charge for dyno testing though.

The original agreement was that i test the header on my 1.8l ITR motor, that has not happened yet.

ill have a more thourough test and write up VERY SOON. i have a B16 we built thats making 170whp stock block untuned right now with M22s and AEBS manifold, Omnipower valves, DC JDM header that i will prboably throw this header on and see what it makes. then ill test it on the 1.8l once all my software and dyno is fixed.

STOCK HEAD, IE no portwork

Motor:
B16A2 block
PR3 pistons 81.5mm
Shotpeened and balanced rods
ARP rodbolts

Head:
Omnipower Valves
Rocket Motorsports M22 Camshafts and Valvetrain
AEBS intake manifold
DC JDM 4-1 header

Tuning:
Uberdata

its making like 167whp, with an hour of tuning to make sure it wasnt leaning out

Sweet, instant gains with more to be had . It looks from the pictures that it clears A/C w/out any problems? Where can I find one of these headers?

Well, i had to remove the AC fan and shroud to get it to fit. I did not try an reinstall the fan after the header was on. It did touch an ac line an melt the rubber hosing on it no harm no foul

I did HAVE TO REMOVE THE TRANNY BRACE AS I HAD TO WITH EVERY OTHER HEADER. if you have a ITR/CTR the header wont clear the brace

PM HOOKUPS or ITUNEDUSA to get a Sparks Racing Header

stock injectors. its like 10.8:1 compression. I had the head milled .20 and the omnipowers is like .3 bump in compression.

It makes power to 9200rpms, with no headwork, its a cool little motor. just sucks its in a 2700lb chassis

a dc header would probably make this much if it were compared to a stock cast manifold....
