use b16 1-4 gears and gsr 5th gear for cruising.
also use the gears in pair(one form input/output shaft.)

While its apart, put in a ITR LSD

Not sure if the ring gear/countershaft will match up with it though, I cant remember if they are the same between GSR/ITR and B16.

I say use the B16 1-4, GSR 5th and ITR 4.785 final and LSD (OEM or aftermarket).

Since the trans will be open, might as well, put the final gear and LSD.

i agree, but LSD is approx another 350..as is the Final Drive.
some folks don't have an extra 700 layin around.. or even more with an aftermarket final drive like ATS.

No they're not. Once the 3/4 gears are pressed off the top of the input shaft they slide right off.

yes on the pinion shaft they slide off but on the main shaft they are cast onto the shaft.

Don't mess with first gear, they are all the same even LS. LS just has a 4.2 final drive. Just grab 2nd, 3rd and 4th from the B16 and throw them in the GSR tran. This way you have shorter gears and a stronger diff.

They are NOT cast into the shaft, donkey. How many transmissions have you rebuilt? Most final drive gear swaps (ATS, JDM ITR) require changing 1st gear.

I have rebuilt several, and just rebuilt my spare LS gearbox last week. You're an idiot. Maybe you should go read a helms? It even has specific instructions on removing all the gears from the mainshaft.

id love to see a copy of a helms tell you how to take the gears off the main shaft. im willing to bet it has instructions on how to take all the gears off the pinion or countershaft but not the main shaft. and for a quick reference for you the main shaft is the one that slides into the clutch.
now look at your nice little picture and tell me how youd pull 1st 2nd and reverse off of the mainshaft? and calling people names is one of the big reasons im leaving this sport after this season. to many people who dont know what the **** they are doing act like they are the end all. have a nice day and try to learn something new.
