I have been slowly loosing a little bit of coolant for awhile now. I have not seen any leaks and there is no white smoke coming from the exhaust. I was adjusting my valves today and saw this on the bottom of my valve cover. It kinda looks a little watery. Any ideas?

 

A little watery? Any other signs other than losing a bit of coolant here and there?

 

looks like coolant mixing with oil.........if it was more "white" in colour i would say its condensation/moisture but that deffinatly looks like coolant.

So does it look like I can prob get away with just replacing the headgasket or are there other problems I should look for. I have been having problems with my fan not working so it has been getting pretty hot so I kinda think it would have blown my gasket.

you couldn't have a more clear sign of a blown headgasket.

 

Blown head gasket! or just a leaky gasket...when you replace it, make sure to have the head resurfaced & hot tanked..., and do an oil flush as well on the block, as well as a coolant system flush as well...you might as well spend another 150 and get some ARP head studs too...

looks like a chocolate shake. You must be overheating with regularity. I bet your fan is working too. Or becasue the fan isn't working you overheated and that is when your head gasket gave way.

I've seen that mess before....oh yeah, all through my oil/coolant systems! lol

Hopefully it is just your headgasket, 'cause I actually cracked my head. Make sure you take a good look at the headgasket, if you can't find a fail point then definitely have your head tested just to be sure!

 

If its been over heating for a while i would bet your head is warped. By the looks of your milkshake i would flush the block,radiator,heater core etc etc.
Just throwing another hg on = another milkshake waiting to happen, or worse......

 

im a mechanic, that is without a doubt water/moisture mixing in the oil.

you think he has a cracked sleeve, how would you come up with that? threre are no pictures of the sleeves.

GET YOUR FAN FIXED

if you dont fix the fan you'll continually overheat, and have that head decked/milled, and gain compression too

ummm dude... thats water/moisture/coolant mixture... most likely he cracked the sleeve(s)...the reason why I'm saying this is because water is solid.. and u can't burn it like oil... water/coolant boils... building pressure inside the block... then heat and water don't mix...

well, the other cause of that is if he sucked water in from the air intake...

getting the fan fix has nothing to do with this...

All you need is to blow the hg between the coolant/oil = milkshake. Your over analysis looks idiotic. For you to say water is solid and you cant burn it like oil? LOL I had a Hg on my eg blow and the faster i poored water in the faster it went out the exhaust. Stfu about cracked sleeves LOLZ

well, for the guy who needs help on this tread... why don't you do a compression test, if all cylinders are within 20% of each other shouldn't be a specific cylinder thats cracked... or better yet leak down test to see exactly what the problem is.
