Default Changing Alternator on 89 Civic DX

I noticed my alternator humming like crazy lately, and I've been having odd problems starting, I managed to located the humm and traced it to the alternator. I figure the berrings are going, since it was a rebuild installed last yr by the previous owner. I wanted to ask if it is difficult to replace the alternator? I heard from some one that the master cylinder has to come out inorder to remove the alternator.

Do it from the bottom, then slid it out from the side where the timming belt area is. I just did one last week, took 40 mins.
