Default My Trackbike Project.

Just picked this up the other day.89 FZR 400 with lot's of goodies and spare bodywork etc...

And now I've got it apart to do a major carb overhaul,Stage 3 Jetting, individual pod filters..and a bunch of stuff but I don't feel like going on about it at the moment.lol

It's gonna be alot of fun on the track.

I think they put out around 59HP stock, but they rev over 14,000 RPM's..So as long as you keep your revs up,you're golden. They say these bikes are insane on the track and with a good rider they are capable of keeping up with 600's.The FZR 400 uses an aluminum Deltabox frame,as opposed to the FZR 600's steel frame..All those twin spar frames you see on the newer bikes?? This was the one that started it..MotoGP design on the street.

Enjoy it. I'll be finishing my project shortly (See sig) but mine is going on the street. Even if it belongs on the track. I call mine a FZR350

Thanks for the compliments, guys.MSchu,I'm not too worried about the power problems.I'm just gonna jet and dial this one up to the best of my abilities and try to enjoy it.Once I can drag a knee and feel really comfortable on the track,I will take my other bike for a few laps..05 CBR 600RR.

That TZR is cool but I saw a 93 RGV250 that was in Florida, Braced swingarm, USD forks and a tiny frame. I'd rather have the Gamma than the TZR. But both are nice. The thing is I can Title my FZR with no problems because it is a USDM bike.

Who said anything about a TZR? I just looked all over this thread and didn't see anyone mention a TZ..As far as the braced swingarm,I've got a guy already gonna send me an actual 3EN Braced Swingarm from Japan. It'll be quite the bike when I'm ready to track it next spring.

Thanks, ngng.I agree with you.I'm very confident when it comes to my riding abilities, and all I need is the chance to git'r'done.I'm pretty pumped. She's jetted and I'm in the process of locating a Banshee coolant reservoir so I can mount it between the 2 rails of the subframe.

TOR,are those YZF 600R rearsets on your bike?? I need a set of those.

No they are F4i Rearsets on custom billet brackets that I made myself. It moves your foot up about an inch and back about two inches. I'm 6'-0" I need the extra room, and when I bought the bike the right rearset was broken off, so I figured if I have to fix it that I may as well make it what I want.

Nice work, bro! They look tight and I'm sure they serve the purpose.I'm thinking about having my Gramp machine me a set of brackets for some nice adjustable rearsets. The ones that came with the bike are lightly bent anyway and I'd like to move em up and back just a little.

FZR400 are great track bikes. If the motor ever takes a dump you can fit in a fzr600 in their, maybe even a yzf600 if I remember correctly.
