Default Best cam for a d series?

Just curious if its worth it to go with a skunk 2 or or possibly a itr cam...which is most cost effective with best gains?

Yea, it would be kinda hard to run 2 cams with only 1 cam gear.

As far as the question, what are you looking to do with your SOHC? N/A? (not for D series) Turbo? Your question is way to vauge.

I'd say your best bet would be a set of Crower stage 2 cams for your D series. If I remember correctly, they are having a special on the D series cams

as far as i know, i know comp cams st. 2 made decent hp gains with basic bolt-ons and a milled head... it made roughly 135whp, 108lbs of torque with intake, header, exhaust, clutch, flywheel and a milled head... help any?

Get some tape?

Yeah man, you gotta tell us what your goal is gonna be.. That will make a HUGE difference in the camshaft.

You cannot use a dohc engine cam on a sohc engine. I use a compcam stage 2 on my N/A y8 and I'm pleased with the results. I think a crower stage 2 makes more power though. Whatever you do, just make sure you check for valve clearance when adjusting timing.

it was a long time ago...i prolly just misheard them...also...what about manifolds? i mean intake...y8? with a gsr tb? or what? i mean im not cheap i just dont wanna drop a ton of money in a d series...and when i say that people just say go b series...and i dont wanna do that either i had a 90 hatch...and i sold it unfinished...and my buddy finished it and bought it...and the thing is flying...it has 14:1 compression and he got the car down in weight to like 1700 or something like that...i know a del sol doesnt have those kind of capiblities...but i wanna do it right...make it quicker...and enjoy it...more then likely it will be a track car...lots of suspension..

Seriously, SOHC cams are meant for SOHC engines and the same for DOHC.

you doing anything with the valvetrain? Some cams are ok using the stock valvetrain, some require replacing your springs and getting stronger valves...but then some would argue that aftermarket springs would cause more of a loss then a gain

200whp NA on a D series is not practical... You are going to have to run crazy comp. with race gas. Blah blah blah... Im a D guy and i love seeing high # d series but thats with a turbo. your goal would be cheaper by swapping period.

search around for NA D dyno sheets.

if your looking for serious hp gains and money isnt a issue buy a turbo kit or piece one together. your more likely to reach 200whp with boost than NA for your D. To reach 200whp you gunna have to build your bottom end as well as the head and get machine work done. I highly doubt you can get 200whp from regular bolt ons (i/h/e) but if you do please let me know what bolt ons.

I went the all motor route on my D and after all the money and time and effort, guys who spent half of what I did with a turbo still blow my doors off. With a light build, a nice turbo setup, and some good tuning, you can be nearing 300 whp on a D and still spend less than you would to make 200 whp N/A.

200whp on an NA D-series? some ppl cant even make 200whp on an NA B16 still, without spending a wad of cash. if you do build an all motor 200whp D-series, please let us know how much it ends up costing you.

"be different. get a Jackson charger."

My buddy Levi has a JRSC Z6 powered EG hatch and he's putting down about 145 hp and 130 TQ on a very very conservative tune. Powerband comes on nice and early and just builds and builds and builds all the way to redline.
