building my jspec d15b motor
i have a d15b jspec motor and want to build it for high boost i know nothing about engines internally. what do i need? what are good brand names? are there any full dseries kits i can buy or do i have to buy the parts seperate? how much money will this cost and how much can i expect for install? what are the pro's and con's of all motor vs boost?
Internals are were your going to find problems. Theres not a big selection for D15b's your going to have to do hybrid or utter complete custom.
For turbo kit all D series kits fit D series. That wont be a problem.

sadly the jdm d15b is a bastard engine, i don't know of any companys that have strpped up to the plate to make rods/pistons/valvetrain...
dude search the faq/sticky in the forced induction forum. All the questions you are asking have been here forever. Now you have 130 posts and should already have the hang of this place. If you read it and search it yourself you'll learn it better.
d15b will suck for HIGH boost as you put it. Especially stock, but aftermarket has no support.

did i ask u if if the engine would suck with boost? no? ohh ok just checking but thanks for attempting to answer my question. U must be one of those people who think they are really witty and just go around crackin on other peoples threads do u really have nothing else to do? go make up ur own thread about how the d15b will SUCK with boost and if anyone wants to listen they will go to ur thread thanks!
just find a another sohc bottom end(D16) and build that. because there are absolutely no jdm d15bm rods on the market. custom rods are gonna run u 600 and up. And dont even think about the crowers cause the rod bushings are different and wont work in that motor.
wow i don t know about this, your engine will suck cause nobody makes internals?... the d15b has d16 rod journals and d15 stroke. so essentially you run d16 rods or ls rods narrowed down.
why are you becoming a little ******. All I'm saying is that for high boost you're going to have to build the bottom end. And since no one makes internals dumbass, you won't be able to do much. Now if you went ahead and custom made your **** that would be a different story.
Sucks for high boost comes into play taking into consideration: customizing and money
What everyone else has been saying backs up my reasoning.
So shut the **** up, bitch
I wasn't trying to sound like Mr. Know It All

Send your d15b crankshaft to Castillos crankshaft service and widen the rod mains to use 16 rods as well its pistons there the whole widening job is cheap :-) .
Castillo phone # 714 523-0321
Your looking at a $300 dollar job and around $45 dollars to ship your crankshaft.

$345 isn't the price for a d16 with pistons and rods its close though.
Lets not pretend theres set prices for local d16 blocks laying around ....

well i don t know what your problem is despite the fact your a moron. but my point was that they do make freakin internals. since when are d16 rods not off the shelf? and you might pay 50 dollars more for a set of custom wisecos with a lower compression height or you could just use off the shelf d17 pistons or would that be to custom for your liking?for instance there is a guy on this board planning to run Ls rods with civic gx pistons along with his jackson there is nothing custom there.if he was building a standard d15 i would agree with most of the statements above because crower is the only manufacturer of d15 rods, but he's not. if i was tryin bein a ******** i would have made a bunch of obscene comments like you.
for the d15b you can d16z6 rods in it. They are the same length and same bearing size. For the pistons you can also run d16z6, however your c/r will be higher because of the pin position. If you want a true height pistons (27mm) you have to go with the gx pistons, but the only one that makes aftermarket pistons for the gx is race engineering manufactured by wiseco. The head is essentially the d16z6 as well, so the springs and retainers from a z6 will work just find.
actually a d17 has the same compression height, and if you wanted a high compresssion turbo setup...gx pistons are forged from the factory and are like 134 dollars for a set of four
what psi do u think is safe to run stock? ive been told that the jdm d15b can handle 9 psi and some people told me not to run more then 7 what is safe for my jdm d15b sohc vtec motor?

you guys just dont get it. THey will not work. this has already been tried. the z6 rod will work in the d15b but the pistons will not work. not even with a modified headgasket. end of story. i have a jdm d15b and i had to swap out the bottom end for my build. live with it.

I also named the aftermarket company that sells the pistons for that motor. So, no need to swap put the bottom end. Stop contradicting your self. In your first post you say no aftermarket rods are available, customs are needed. Then you agree with me and say z6 rods will work.

ok they wont work with any aftermarket forged piston. Its like Having a 500whp car with no transmission for it. sure it works but it aint gonna do ****.

dude can you freakin read. WE said you need to run either a d17 or gx pistons, or holy crap a 450 dollar set of custom wisecos!!!what is so difficult to understand. they have a lower compression height and they will work!!!!
