Default HELP me quick! Theives tried to jimmy lock. Now its buggered.

So I guess last night some ******* tried to get into my car. What he did was jam a screwdriver under the door-handle trim and tried to hook the latch to pop the car open.

Now I have a problem. My car doors (both driver and passanger) will not open from the outside.

So i got in through the hatch and opened the drivers door. Then I took interior door panel/trim off and had a look. It seems that the piece of metal that goes from the door handle to the lever that unlocks the door got ben a bit. Now when you pull the door handle, it does not push the lever down far enough to pop the door. I have no idea how to fix it, or even how to give that little piece of metal (that pushes the lever inside the door) a bend back in the opposide direction. Its so damn cramped in that door that I can barely fit a screwdriver in there to do anything.

I dunno. I don't know how to fix this. Any suggestions? I can snap a digi pic if need be.

Lock looks fine. Its the metal rod that goes from the outside door handle to the lock lever inside the door. ... I think. The door opens fine from the inside.

Thanks for the compliment.

You can take out the rods, handle assembly, and the latch. Once it's out you should able to bend it back into shape.

I managed to bend them back. Now I have an ugly hole under the door handle trim. I'll try to pound it back in from the inside of the door, then fix up the paint with some touch-up paint.
