PLEASE HELP B16 CRX NOBODY CAN TELL ME WHATS WRONG WITH IT
ok...I've built a b16 for my car numerous times, its cntinues to blow up but that doesnt matter, i did one right and it has about 3000 miles on it. Recently the car just starts to bog after i drive it for a while and cuts out a little then dies. And it wont start for sometimes 2 days sometimes 20 minutes. I was told it was my igniter, i replaced it, did the same thing. Everything on the motor is new. The wiring for the VTEC harness is done right, shrink sleaving, solder, the who nine yards. I figured it had to be my fuel pump getting to hot or something. Not likely but its the only thing left. So I put a Walbro 255 in it today, the pump came on fine, so i put the tank back in, sat the car down, and turned the key on and it worked once, but i didnt start it so i shut it off and let it pump again, then when i tried to start it, it wouldnt come on, and my battery light wouldnt come on aymore and my check engine light wouldnt shut off. Usually when after the fuel pump kicks off after you just turn the key on those 2 lights shut off, but it didnt, i checked my computer, which is a pr3 by the way, and its not even giving me the initial light up flash, the computer isnt flashing at all. I figured it was the main relay, grabbed one out of my friends Si, put it in, same thing. It turns over, lights work, sunroof works, everything else, but the fuel pump and the computer. I have no idea whats wrong with it. I wish someone could tell me, it would be great. Oh and mods are .25 over CTR pistons, balanced crank, mild ported and polished head and intake manifold, BLOX tuner b cams(equivalent to skunk2 stage 2's) skunk2 springs and retainers, act clutch and flywheel, 2 1/2 straight pipe to magnaflow muffler, if any of that matters, thanks for the help.
You first need to check exactly what is failing you. Specifically, you need to confirm fuel pump operation, injector operation, and spark. Only then can you even guess at what is wrong.
Check the fuses, that pump pulls about twice the current of the stock pump and will easily blow the stock setup. You should really put in a relay and 30amp fuse soley for the pump if you are going to use the walbro. While your doing this, also increase the power and ground wires for the pump to 16 guage. This will help your pump problem, but there still may be an underlying problem with your engine.
it sounds like you have a problem with your wiring. not necessarily vtec wiring, in fact it's doing the same thing mine did when i forgot the ground on the thermostat housing that goes to the computer.
ok, so basically you guys think the fuel pump is taking way more power than the car has to offer? and if thats the case i need to put a fuse on the power wire that runs to the fuel pump? and a bigger main relay than a 12 volt? but which fuse would cause my computer not to work? all my grounds are right and hooked up. should i buy one of those ****** big ground wire kits or what? oh and im glad my name made you laugh.
