Chassis Shop in the chicagoland area
Hey guys thanks for the response. Im not sure what route im going right now as i have a million different ideas going though my head. More or less i have an 83 rabbit setup for drag currently it has a 6 point cage in it. I was wondering if there are any options for more or less hacking off the frontend, tubing the frontend out with a completely new suspension setup and tabbing it for a VR6. Is it something that would even be possible? would you tie it into the existing cage or start over. and what kind of labor costs would you be looking at for just doing the chassis work and tabbing the motor.
thanks
thanks
So you're looking to have a tube frame front clip constructed with mounts for a VR6 motor to fit onto your Rabbit?
A rough estimate would be somewhere around 25-30 labor hours which would include removing the existing front end, bending up tube to fit whatever type of suspension you're looking for, joining up the front end to the existing 6-point cage and everything would be tig welded. Cost wise you'd be looking at somewhere around $1750 to $2000 depending on actual labor hours involved. Materials costs would vary depending upon if you wanted mild steel or chromoly, what suspension setup you want and various brackets and mounts to mount up the body and motor. That is a rough estimate though, it'd be best to take a look at it first and we could make a detailed list of what work needs to be done and how much each individual step would cost.
