Default all motor sohc

i have a jdm d15b (sohc vtec) in my 88 dx and im about to build the motor up... currently as the motor sits in the car it runs about a 15.sec flat.

ive got $2,200 to spend on the motor. i will not b swapping in a b series cause i wanna experiment with a sohc.

ne ways what currently is the best stage 2 cam for a sohc vtec? i was debating on getting a stage 2 skunk2, but if theres ne thing else out there better i will change.

im getting valve springs, retainers, a port n polish, camshaft, and cam gear.

i also will b planning on getting a new aftermarket clutch and flywheel so if theres ne suggestions on that i would appreciate it.

as for the bottom end i wont really touch it yet but to make it higher compression what piston should i use?

i might sound dumb but now that i have the money in hand i want to get as much info as possible so i dont buy the crappy products.

my plans is to make a 14.3- 13.9 sec single cam motor.

if i have ne money left over i will be adding a lil nitrous. but just a 50 shot..

so if u have ne suggestions it would really help me out right now.

$2,200 is alot to spend on a sohc and im willing to give it a try..

thanx for ur help..

if you live in indonesia , you could get overbored throttle body for $100 , lighetened fylwheel $10 , 4,4 final drive for $300 , and D16A6 Shortblock $300,raising your CR to 12.5 by milling the head .... with the rest of the money you could buy crower stg 3 camshaft , apexi piggyback and dyno tuning ...
with all of that setup that would bring you high 13sec i think without any shoot.

Hey, its nice to know that you want to attempt this as many people would rather swap a b series engine into to their cars. Well here my suggestion........and this is just to try to help you get started on the right track...

For pistons you can use zc pistons to make your compression a bit higher. They aren't expensive at all you can get some for like...$100-$180. As far as a cam goes, I've heard a lot people like the zex stage 2 cams. If you like, you can get something like skunk2 or REV valvetrain. They are pretty good also. Clutch......I would suggest finding a clutch from like ACT that would be good for your application. I wouldn't suggest getting something too extreme because it wouldn't be needed. Flywheel....get like a 12lb from like findenza. Also you might want to look into some 310 injectors just to be on the safe side of things. If you can find a Y8 intake manifold, use it cause the are bigger than the your current intake manifold. Also you can use a b series throttle boddy on it like an ls or b16. Do a light port job on the head and use some dc headers. Some these parts I have. If you need some more help let me know. Good luck yo

Shawn
