Which Helms manual?
I would get the one made for your car. It will cover the Si model from that year too which takes care of the d16a6. Heck I am using a 1989 civic/crx shop manual and I have a 1991 4dr. I believe you would be able to use any 88-91 shop manual and be fine.

Get the '90 or '91 Civic 3dr/4dr manual. It will include specs for the D16A6, since the Civic Si and Civic EX used this engine in addition to the CRX Si.
