horrible track times (05 type-s)
i ran my brothers bone stock 05 type-s at rocky mountain raceway friday night. elevation there is 4400 ft. this was also my very first time racing on a drag strip. did a total of 4 runs, second run was the best but still a crappy time.
run #1
60 ft: 2.9
1/4 mile: 17.222@85
run #2
60 ft: 2.5
1/4 mile: 16.212@86
run #3
60 ft: 2.5
1/4 mile: 16.285@86
run #4
60 ft: 2.6
1/4 mile: 16.417@86
very first run i dropped the clutch around 3500 and spun the tires all through 1st gear. i feathered the clutch on the remaining runs. i was hoping for low to mid 15's. i was very dissapointed but it was my very first time on the track. couldn't lower my 60 ft times. car is bone stock (air box, stock tires, etc.) any suggestion guys? i believe with a lower 60 ft like 2.1-2.3 i can break into the 15's.

dam, it seems like the problem is your 60 foot times. try to get them down to 2.3 or 2.2 and youll see better times. also try lowering your tire pressure to like 22 psi.
damn....that is pretty bad, not that I could do any better....but its not like they were designed for the 1/4. Anayways good luck on getting better times man.
Beween your 60 ft times and the elevation, the times are not too unusual. Dropping pressure should help, but practice is key. Also, keep in mind your 16.2 @ 4400 is a 15.5 @ sea level, so even with the poor launches it's not that bad...

Ah I see, I didnt know that..Thanks for clarifying Terrible One....
When I raced my CRX in pomona on the 1/4 mile on an open track day, there were people red lighting so I guess they were basing it on bracket racing....I could've sworn that's how it is at palmdale also...Make sense now how the reaction time would make no difference what so ever.....

hey man i understand the alttitude problem. I race at the western colorado dragway in Grand junction Co, I have 02 type s w/ dc header intake and skunk exhaust, temp was 98 degrees about the same elevation as yours ran 15.63 with 2.44 60ft.
i know my times arnt the greatest but it is bone stock. that stock air box isnt doing any good. when it was has cai, img, dcrh, exhaust, better tires, i'll take it to the track again and hopefully run better times.

The timer starts when you move for time trials so in that case reaction is a moot point.

Yeah, especially your post if you think they're wrong.
Reaction time has no effect on what your timeslips says. Reaction time has a ton to do with bracket racing, because if you're racing a 12 second car in a 16 second car, they give you a 4 second advantage from the time the light goes green, so you can win it on an R/T.
