Another its gonna be sold thread py r is gonna go monday
i love it and am only selling it as i need some money. My wife and i are adopting a girl from the phillipines and its been a little slow at work lately so i am trading in the R 01 with 30,700 for a 05 rsx type s. They are giving me $16000 for it and i am putting $3000 down on the S and getting a check back for $13000. its gonna be a lease and the money will go to help support my wife who lives in the phillipines with our daughter. She has to live there for two years tell the U.S. will give us a visa to bring my daughter here. When i get back to making money as i have in the past a new R of some year will be back in my garage. I know i could buy a cheaper car but driving is one of the few things i have and it keeps me saine while we go through this adoption. thanks all george bbasso and you all!!
i will still leark and be back to get a CW r later if there are any left by that time.
thanks again i learned alot from you all. I never tracked the car at all and was

An 01 R with 30k miles... that should get $18,000 if not better. The dealer is making out like a bandit!!! Pull a last minuet scare to them and ask for 18k. see if they swallow it, they just might.
Good luck with the new kid

I have a horrible feeling that it'll be stolen.

You couldn't just get a loan on the R you already had, instead of trading it in on a new car (albeit leased) that costs more?

He's getting $16,000 on a trade-in. In most states, that reduces the sales tax he has to pay, so he's only paying tax on the difference. Assuming this is true in Nevada (6.5-7.5 percent sales tax), he's saving around $1,000 on sales tax, so it's like selling the car for $17,000.

I see what your saying. But I bet if the R was on autotrader or other big used car sites I bet a low mileage R woould sell quick even if he had the price up at $20k.
I think it's worth the extra week or three and the small headaches that come with it.

I highly highly doubt it will be stolen at a dealership. I live in KC and when I went to go buy my R from the dealership they had it on the showroom floor next to an 04 yellow NSX. Dealerships take precautions as well and congrats on the adoption.

Used cars usually don't go in the showroom.

i don't understand... you trade your car in for a newer car which cost more because you need money?
if you like the R better than the RSX. and your R is all paid off, then why not just get line of credit against a house mortage if you have one.
there are many ways to get loans that has lower interest rates than car loans.

Like I said, buying - or leasing - a new, more valuable car that is going to depreciate faster doesn't sound like a logical thing to do to raise cash. If he really needs the cash, he'd be better off selling the R and getting a beater for a fraction of the price. $.02

after alot of heart ache i still have the R which is paid off and i dont have any payments. i also for kicks went to drive an 05 sti and they offered me $18k for the R which is great for a dealer. they called me this morning with that offer it was $17k before. the sti is good as it has 4 doors which is easier family wise and i wounldnt miss the r as much they are two different cars to drive as you know. im torn
no bills and not much in the bank or a new $400 a month payment for 5 years and $8k in the bank. subaru offered me that with $10k down. the insurance is less than the r by like $50 for six months. the rsx was about $200 more. anyway thanks for the posts.

This thread is confusing. You will lose money in the long run buying a new car. Leasing it will probably cause even a bigger loss. You are sacrificing $$$ for short term gain.
You would probably be better off taking out an equity loan (if you have collateral) or maybe even an 8K personal loan. You will certainly lose more $$$ in the long run buying the RSX-S.
Lets say the rate is 14% on a personal loan, that 1100 or so it will cost to get 8K. You will lose more than that with your curent plan of action.
BTW, big congrats on the adoption!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this is the most retarded thread I have ever read. Goto the bank, refinance the car, you are basically buying it from yourself. loan value is upwards of 16k, so take out a loan for 15000, make the payments to the bank, put the 15k in your account, keep the car and get the money you need. any questions?
So this guy instead traded in his ITR on a new WRX STi, as reported here???
Something's not right here. Either he was just kidding about needing the money, or else he makes the worst financial decisions of anyone I've ever heard of...
(Note - I'm not dissing the Sube, just dissing the idea of someone who claims they need to raise cash going and buying a ~$30K new car.)
