Understeer and oversteer and braking
This post is for a video game on xbox called forza motorsports. I didnt know where to post this or if I should be posting it here. But I figured maybe I could get some help here.
But im trying to tune my car right now. and the problem im trying to fix is I cant brake and steer at the same time. Becuase what I like to do is brake and downshift before the turn but I like to have it so I start to turn just before I let off the brakes. On other racing games I was able to get faster lap times by doing that. But is there anyway to fix that? Because its a problem for me in hairpin turns and certain S turns.
Also. Just to make sure I got this right, Understeer is when you turn the steering wheel but the front tires lose traction causing you to lose turning ability. While Oversteer is when the rear tires lose traction before the front. Right?
Im driving a R34 Skyline NUR full mods so how would I fix Oversteer in a AWD? Becuase I didnt have an oversteer problem in my EVO 8.
But anyways, sorry if this is the wrong place to be posting this but any help would be great, thanks

I remember Gran Turismo 3 had a really cool diagram explaining traction, and how you have to split the traction of your tires between braking and turning. Eg. if you use 100% of your traction for braking, then you have none for steering, and vice versa and in between. Maybe you are braking too late?
1st question: lower ur spring rate.
2nd question: to make a car stop oversteering stiffen up the front or loosen up the rear a bit(spring rate, shocks, swaybars)
for good tunning in video games and real life always remember to use the softest setting u canget away with. so start with a soft spring rate and shock absorber seting and move ur way up untill the car feels right.
for understeering make front stiffer than back
for oversteering make back stiffer than front

don't brake as hard..you shouldn't be 100% on the brakes if trail braking...slowly let off the brakes as you begin to turn...then slowly get on the accelerater
slow in fast out.
u brake in a straight line, turn and gas out near the end of the apex...it really depends on the car tho. fwd, rwd, and 4wd drive VERY differently. 4wd's have A LOT of understeer. u might want to work with toe settings for 4wd cars.
