MAJOR PROBLEM WITH TRANNY (bad day at the races)
ok, today i went to the drag strip in my crx and didn't race. i just watched.
then i was leaving and i think the half shaft (or something) broke. now my car won't move. the engine runs great, but there is nothing between the tranny, and the wheels. it seems as if my clutch is ok, cuz i don't grind any gears, and i can shift into 1st, and thenthe speedo starts moving, thinking the car is going that fast. but i'm not going anywhere. so what is my problem?, what happened?, and how can i fix it?
thx

hmmm.. I think you need to write that out better. I know you got information there but its all too cluttered.
So you can or can't drive it? what happens when you put it into 1st and try to drive? Will it stay in gear? Are you sure the clutch is engaging/disengaging? Will it go into gear? etc.
More info always helps.

ok, my axel is snapped. the CV joint closer to the engine just twisted off and broke clean. now, what is the easiest way to get the axels off? and would i want to replace both sides, even tho i only broke the drivers side? i've got 150K miles on the whole car, and i don't think it would make sence to replace just one side of the axel. so i think i want to r/r both sides coming out of the tranny. but when i do that, can i mess up the gears, or something inside when i take out both sides of the axel???
please help.
please help.
If your speedo is moving up and you're not going, the tranny is spinning and the VSS (vehicle speed sensor)is picking up movement.
Don't think it's clutch related, but I could be wrong. Check axles, half shaft, etc. Maybe the tranny is toast.
We need more info though...

EDIT: wow, you beat me to the post by 1 minute...

No just replace the bad axle. Don't have to replace them in pairs like headlights.
1.) drain tranny fluid
2.) remove spindle nut holding axle to hub (center of your rotor yo)
2.5) Remove strut fork bolt
3.) pop lower ball joint
4.) wiggle alxe end out (this takes a delicate touch and a little leverage, not 400 lbs of torque
)
5.) replace axle
6.) reassemble and drink high life, or newcastle.

but wouldn't the other side be just as weak, and then when i go to drive it, i'll break the other side. so why wouldn't i want 2 new sides?
