I visited RR for the first time last weekend during an SCCA double national and it seemed like an interesting facility but the one common thread was that it was a tire eater that desperately needed repaving. Let's hope this actually happens, I look forward to racing there one day as I have family about 35 miles away. Visit the in-laws and race at the same time...works for me.

Lots of patch work with more to come in the meantime, there were a couple of potholes last time I was there.

That would be great if they would repave it!!! That would be so great. A foot bridge across the track would be nice too so you could get over the track while a race is going on.

I'll never forget watching the Kent's from the paddock, helpless watching their race start and they weren't allowed across the track. At least if there was a foot bridge they (and others) could have made it over to the paddock.

Not if it's done right. My recommendation is to get whatever formulation VIR used, repave it in November, and shut it down for 3 months to allow it to cure.

Lap records will be destroyed....

The plan is for the track to go down for a repave after the July 4th and to be back up by September 2006 if all goes as planned.

It was originally supposed to have the Road Atlanta formulation. However, they neglected to put binder in and track started coming up the first race weekend. I don't think RA has been repaved except where they changed the track

Except for the indestructible ITA record of 1:20:267 that is.

Considering I don't know it any other way, am I crazy to think RRR will lose a part of its identity w/ a smooth, non-abrasive, non-wearing, uniform surface? Strikes me that heavier (esp. fwd) cars will benefit a lot more from this than lighter cars. Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of a less wearing surface on tires, just curious if the track in its current state will be missed. Personally, I'd prefer the money went in to the bathrooms and an under/over pass to get in/out of the track during races. JMO

Well I would prefer it went to a nice smooth (slippery is fine too!) track surface. You know, just to level the playing field a little more...

We really have to figure out who to talk to so we can get that thing taken off the books. I really think he had that RX3 chained to a GT1 car!
