Default what welding machine is best?? im a noobee on the subject.

i've been seeing lots of the sweet welds in here and lots of crazy fab. was wonder which welding machine is best for welding roll cages, headers, doors, or even pipes. thanks.

You cannot get a decent tig machine for $700 unless it's used and you are pretty lucky in finding it.

You may want to start out with something like a Hobart Handler 185. It is a quality machine that you will keep, even if you wind up spending thousands on welding equipment in the future. There will always be a place in your shop for it. In other words, it's like if your first car is a pinto, you will soon want to sell it and move up to something else. If your first car is an old Mustang, you may get another car, but still decide to keep the old mustang.

Is the hobart handler 185 not being made anymore. I've been searching around and can only find the 180 and 210. I hear the 210 is really nice but from what I've seen it's around 750 and seems like a little much for someone just starting out.

i think i understand the analogy, i want something that will last me a long time. but anyhow thanks for the input.
