People who know about sprockets....
So i have a 97' GSX-R600 . Anyways i just put new sprockets on there and the bike still doesnt wanna come up when i floor it. I'll bring it to like 7 or 8k in first and hit it, and it doesnt come up. Stock sprockets are 16 front and 45 rear. What i have on there now is 14 front and 45 rear. Seeing what people think first...but i was gonna try 12 Front and 45 rear. My question is, how low can you go on the front...before you should just start adding to the rear? I've been told every 1 tooth u take off the front, its equivalent to adding 3 teeth in the back. THanks in advance...

yeah, thats how my buddy does them. I just want it to start pulling up from flooring it. Just fun to me. Other people may not see it like that...but i do. Thanks for the post.
bounce on her a little bit.. it'll come up .. bring it to like 7.5k.. let off push down.. then let it come back up with some serious gas :-P .. on and lean back too
#1. Go up in the rear before you go down in front.
#2, Your roll up technique sucks, this is why you can't roll it up. Not b/c of the gearing. You need to roll, chop, pin to get it to come up. Also a little pull and leaning back helps.
Clif notes: It's you, not your bike. Don't be cheap, just get a new chain and go 15F, 47R.

14 is about as low as you want to go on the front, any more and the chain binds up as it come around the sprocket. if you want to gear lower, you need to go up some teeth in the rear.
i also agree, however, it sounds like gearing is not the issue

alright cool...i'll just leave the sprockets how they are, and work on my technique. I'm not being cheap at all, i just got 2 brand new sprockets and a brand new chain. I'll just workin on clutching and pulling up etc....thanks guys.
Maybe you wanna look at the bike's tuning as well. Yes it sounds like you technique may be off as well but if the bike is tuned for crap it isn't going to perform and won't have the power to wheelie no matter what.
It is carb'd so you have to deal with synching them and tuning and all that fun stuff.
I would suggest however learning how to clutch your wheelies as you are moving slower than you need to when power/bouncing the wheelies.

10's??? Not your bike.

woah cowboy...never said my bike did 10s. I was just kinda comparing the quickness of a bike compared to the price as opposed to a car and how much it costs to go fast. thats all
Whoa you got 2 down in the front and you still cant get it up? Hehe j/k 1 in the front is ~2-3 up in the rear. Dont get any more than 2 in the front or the chain will rub against itself. You shouldnt need to change your sprockets anymore than it already is to get it up. You can get it up with stock gearing. Keep practicing and find someonoe who can help teach you. Don't try to learn to stunt alone because if anything happens youre sol.
i wonder if the bike just maybe needs to be tuned? Its got a full yoshimura exhaust and yoshimura jet kit. Maybe its just outta tune. Who knows...i'll practice clutching with some buddies i guess.
