Default B20 build time...

(Did searching, I found quite a few answers, just looking for some more)

New project... B20/VTEC into my 1994 Civic EX.

I just have a few questions that I need some input on. I've already bought the motor, B20B for $300, and PR3 pistons for $50. I'm about to purchase either a B18C1 or B16A head, and a fully race built B16 transmission (cryogenically treated components, carbon syncro's, etc).

However, does anyone have any suggestions here? Will any special modifications need to be done to fit the PR3 pistons?

Thanks in advance,

You will have to sleeve the block down to 81mm.

Oh... Please excuse my ignorance, but what all is involved in getting a block sleeved?

alright bro, your pr3 pistons are only 81mm just like b16's, b18c1, b18c5 they are all 81mm bore.

but the b20 is a LARGER bore of 84mm so there is no way for your b16 pistons to fit in it unless you resleeve meaning changing the larger bore into a smaller 81mm bore which defeats the whole purpose of going 2.0 liter. might as well buy a ls block if your going to do that.

I suggest you not buy anymore parts until you know what you are doing, it will cost you less money that way. for your piston problem, if your going all motor, all motor tends to have more compression. first figure out whether this will be a street driven motor or a drag/ autox/ motor. you're going to have to look up other brand pistons. i.e. wiseco/arias/ cp/ je these are some of the companies that make 84mm pistons.

I really want to see the carbon syncro's. Pic's would be nice when you get the gearbox.

Yea, will do DonF.

Dragonz04, I cancelled the PR3 pistons, so that's no problem. I was under the impression that all B Series blocks have the same Cylinder Bore.

I'm looking into buying the JE 10.5:1 CR pistons (84.5mm Bore) with Eagle Rods. ACL bearings, and ARP bolts as well. The B20 head is staying stock, seeming as I'll be swapping on a GSR head soon after the swap.

This will be my Daily Driver and Auto Cross car. One of my sponsors (For Auto Cross) will be taking care of quite a large sum of the build costs, so that makes things easier. So with that being payed for, I'm going for a pretty strong lower end. So I'm starting to think about what Crankshaft would be good to run... Will stock suffice?

Thanks for the input guys.

ok ZedEx i only have a few words of wisdom. i have gone down this path before. DON'T GET EAGLE RODS. i had a set and they broke...this was in january and Eagle has YET to do anything about it. they admit that it was their fault but i have seen no parts or money yet for the block and pistons that were destroyed due to their incompetence... and as far as the crankshaft the stock one should do fine. i believe the honda crankshaft is almost perfectly balanced from the factory and if your gonna keep your stroke the same then the crankshaft should be fine. i would suggest you get thP 11.0:1 CR pistons. when it comes to all motor the best thing is compression. might as well get a higher compressoin now then be sorry you didnt in a few months. and when you are looking for a new head a B16 will do the trick unless you just really want a GSR head. and also you may wanna look into getting the head ported, that will increase your power a good bit. if you dont wanna use the stock rods a set of Crower rods will work. very good and reliable and the guys at crower are really cool to boot.

i hope some of this helps if not oh well....
