OT-F1-Silverstone Qualifying/Race
Alonso takes pole with Button next to him but, Kimi is blindingly fast and even though they made the swap and have to drop 10 spots, looks like he'll be a dominating contender tomorrow.
The prancing horse looks pitiful much to my chagrin
Glad I taped it, it was actually a fun qualifying to watch.

Lady Luck has definitely not looking down on Kimi. The fastest car in the field by far is definitlely not the most reliable. He'll have his work cut out during tommorrow's race while starting from 12th place. I'm wondering if Kimi is just overdriving the car causing some relaibilty issues? Not good at all for his drivers' championship hopes.
For all intents and purposes, Alonso will cruise tommorow.

I slept through it this morning, even though I saw the alarm clock at 8:05.
Good news is that qualifying is on again at 2 am, with the race tomorrow morning starting at 7:30 am (with a re-broadcast at 12:30 PM, just after noon).
P.S. The GP2 race is being shown at 6:30 AM.

sucks for kimi. i would love to see jpm/kimi/alonzo battle it out, but alas, the rules won't let that happen! suprised to see button up there with such a fast time. there's no way they have a 3 stopper for a 60 lap race, is there??? if not, that means the pace of the car is much greater than before, either that or button will be pulling in on lap nine and have a VERY long 2nd stint
Kimi wont win again.. although he'll probably get a podium spot or close.
Chris - obviously rooting for button, but also JPM to finally have a clean and fast race.

I do not usually watch F1 and I do not really know who everybody is, so I have a dumb question.
Why did we hear God Save the Queen when there was no Jack showing? Who was in second place and what country is he from?
That was a very nicely attended event, and if that is what Silverstone is attracting, then the race there clearly needs to stay on the schedule.

Second place was Alonso. I believe he's Spanish
They played "God save the queen" because the host country is England (my guess)...probably played it in light of recent events?

Are you talking about after the finish? If so first the colombian for Juan Pablo and then God save the Queen for constructor, McLaren who is British.

columbian NA first, then England. Driver, then construtor ie Mclaren.
Kimi's pass on Alonzo was phenomenal. Fisi blows.. I can't believe he stalled AGAIN in the pits and blew it. Toyota is really fading! and again Trulli held up MS and Kimi. I see Toyota fading further and further as the year goes on - not very impressive results at all by them. and Williams! What the hell?? Flat out bad in the last four races or so.
Go Button! (goddamnit sato) Best of the rest is nothing to be unhappy about given the rest of the year...
happy to see JPM finally win in a mclaren.

I really enjoyed this race, good stuff.
As expected Kimi and his car were strong.
WTF is up with Trulli though?
And did you notice the several comments about the marshals not using the blue flag often enough if not at all?
Fisi? two races in a row? C'mon...
I'm just blown away how Ferrari is so Not dominant in any form this year. They can't blame the tires continually.

I think Fisi is going to get the boot like Trulli did last year if he keep stalling out and end up giving up positions. I think schmey is getting old, better retire soon to save some face. I can't believe Sato did such a dumb *** mistake by hitting wrong button during warm up and shut off his car on the grid!

Race, what race?
4 overtaking moves in the whole thing excluding start, pits, backmarkers, you call that enertainment.
It was like qualifying just a longer version. What a pile of shxt I am through with F1, its not about racing anymore just corporate sponsorship.
Crap.

Schumy isn't getting old...its his car. They're stuggling with the tires and the aero on his car..if you look closely, something changes on his car almost every race...but same with BAR, Toyota, and Williams.

It's hard to expect a ton of passes with the current regulations.
Compared to other races this year, it was much more entertaining.
It is however sad that our scale of what is and what is not entertaining has be thrown so far into the boring range over the past few years.

I dnt think it was anywhere nr as good as the early rounds. I don't know why anyone would spend 500 million a year for two cars to put on this parade!! F1 is worthless.
Any race from the 70's or 80's prolly even 90's would have been better to watch. Fuggin drivers with ego's and attitude back then, not afraid to tell each other to **** off. These days they all share the same bloody sauna after the race.
Am not watching them from now on, even the highlights are the same as the dull parts it seems. MotoGP is where it is at not these muppets.

i'd love to know who KR is more PO'ed at: max mosely for the retarded engine change penalty or mercedes benz for their horribly unreliable engines.

Of course. Look at the regs now vs then! It's hard to complain about the quality of the racing when the cars get so horribly unstable everytime you get up close behind someone. With the exception of Kimi's pass on Alonzo, most passing attempts fail when (like the announcers said today) the front wing 'gives up' when tucked in behind another car. Much easier and effective to complain about the stupid regs.
The rules definitely need to be changed so its about the drivers. No aids, and less aero to allow passing. One can hope....

I definitely agree about this.... very subdued, no more 'drama' between drivers and yelling/screaming matches of old.
However as far as the sauna, I'd say they probably all go do their own thing, not alot of close buddies I don't think.. or at least it does not seem that way.
Just not enough ***** to go after each other... except maybe DC going after Massa at Imola.
