2000 Accord LX Vtec not reving past 5krpm in neutral
Completly stock accord. Year 2000. Engine vtec. Automatic Tranny.
Question. When car is in park and in neutral it does not go past 5000 rpm. Just kind of chokes. When driving though no problem. My question is is this normal? Is this because the car is Vtec and there is no load? New to Accords and the Vtec engines. Please your help is much appreciated

i believe theres a limit to revs in non drive gears....it so you wont slam it into a drive gear at high revs and burn out the tranny and torque converter....

This is correct... When not in park or neutral, the rev limiter is lower, at roughly 5k rpms.
