Default d4 flashes on dash

the d4 light begins to flash only when the engine gets hot. first gear and fourth gear are out. the tranny shifts fine between second and third but is very sluggish from a complete stop. Any clues, suggestions.

what year? how many miles?
but from the sound of it, your transmission is about to go..
if it the 6th gen and its under 100,000 miles, you can bring it to the dealer and see if you can have it fixed under the extended warrenty.. .

Need more information. Sounds like either a tranny solenoid, possibly bad radiator (you said it gets hot), low tranny fluid, time for tranny flush or maybe a bad tranny.

... or maybe it's time to learn how to read the tranny error codes.

Since you're posting this on the Accord forum I guess you're probably talking about an Accord. Since it's a flashing D4 lamp rather than S or sport lamp, that kinda narrows down the range of years. But really, WHY should WE have to waste time guessing what year/model/engine/tranny you have?
