I haven't posted on here for a long time. I've been out of the it for a while. I used to be an avid reader and helped organize a GB.
I'll just give it to you guys. Last night I was staying at my gf's cousins (she's house sitting). Nice neighborhood, about a mile from my house, I live in a gated communtiy but the house I was at isn't, my car is stolen. Yep between the hours of about 11pm and 11am.

I kinda don't know what to feel, I've had my 2000 Black GSR since October 2000, it had 43xxx miles on it and now its gone. Like I said, when I was younger (I'm 23 now) I was very much into my car, I hung out with all my buds and did that whole thing but I grew out of it and just cruised around.

My car was stock looking, dropped on H&R Sports w/ some Kyb Agx's, i/h/e and an ITR from lip and now its gone.

Called the cops, mom is calling the insurance. So i guess I have to start searching again. Its kinda hard because back in the late 90's my uncle got me into the import scene when I was in high school and all I wanted was a gsr, well I got one and enjoyed it for almost 5 years.

Oh yea, from people who have had this happen, what did you do? How was your insurance w/ the settlement? Did you get another teg, a part of me always wanted an ITR, maybe now is the time. I'm not going to let this get me down. Life goes on and I have to move on.

Any suggestions guy's? Like I said I've been out of it for a while but a part of me always did want an ITR. I'm not much into racing anymore but I enjoyed driving my gsr. Any suggestions on cars? My future car when I'm out of college is a G35. Don't think I can afford that right now. Maybe an IS300, i always said my next car would be an auto that I can just cruise. But like I said, even though I'm not into racing my teg, I still enjoy the sight of a PY ITR.

 

ITR is a great all around caR but it has some serious drawbacks, One main one is that it will get stolen and it's only a matter of time.

I suggest getting something else for a DD. No need to have another car you like getting stolen. Since you seem to be a fan of Honda/Acura why not look into a Used S2000 ?

 

If you're not going to track the car, then I wouldn't get an ITR.

Just for change, I'd go for a E36 bimmer (325, 328). Fun to drive and won't have to worry about theft as much.

 

I'm thinking maybe and IS300 and or early 2000 BMW. I don't mind having a car payment. I always told everyone my next car would be something nice I can cruise.

Like I said I've was into imports since I was 16, (I'm 23) now. Boy if I knew then what I knew when I was 21 I would have gotten an ITR for sure. I'm really not sure, if I do stay w/ a teg it will be an ITR for sure but I think that stage of my life is over, well I'm not sure..haha you can prob. tell I still have the itch huh?

I'm curiuos on what my insurance will give me if then don't find it.

 

If you don't want the agony of thinking about theft, get the IS300. Personally, I wouldn't own a Type R if I didn't participate in some form of sanctioned racing for the mere fact that I couldn't use it to it's fullest potential on the street. For me, it's not about the sheer look and style of a car, it's more about the function.

Go for the IS 300. They are without a doubt, one of the best ways to spend 30k.

Good choice... as long as you don't plan on using the back seats. Those back seats are so cramped.

If you get a bimmer, get a BMW certified w/ extended warranty.

You might also be happy with a mini cooper S. They aren't exactly stolen as much as Honda/Acura.

p.s. I would've also suggested S14 S240sx, but they are hard to find in good condition and it'll probably get stolen like your GSR.

 

I picked up a '98 BMW M3 for less than the price that '98 ITRs go for recently. It's a nice daily driver and always fun but comfortable. Most parts actually seem to cost less than Japanese stuff surprisingly, and maintenance isn't that hard at all. I've owned two and they've been almost 100% reliable(just a few little common issues cropping up, but they always started up and got me around just fine).

Might want to look at them.


The market for S14's has really gone through the roof lately since the Kouki's are pretty rare(late model 97-98's) and in high demand. But again, a cool car if that's what fits you fancy. An M3 will be way faster though. Heck, your GSR will be faster than a stock S14.

 

Get what you like, guy. Honestly If I had to make your choice right now I would almost definately go the AWD Turbo route. My GF's lil' brother just picked up an new 05' Evo. I totally adore it. If my R was paid off I would honestly consider either that or an STi.

In the end you're gonna have a stolen car that is replaced by a caR that is even more of a thief magnet that you can't enjoy the way you would like to for fear of thievery.

 

I wouldn't pick up an IS300. They are really expensive for what your getting. My sister really wanted on. We went to a Lexus Dealership and a used one was loot!

She ended up getting a new TSX for less than the IS. I really like her car, and I believe in '06 or '07 they are replacing the RSX with a two door TSX.

The R is nice if you have a safe place to keep it ALL the time, and another car to beat.

 

my ITR got stolen at work and insurance payid me in 2 week
they paid me $20,000 CAN + tax it was the book value of 00 ITR
and i got a nother ITR which was the biggest mistake i did

I'd get whatever makes you happiest. Yeah I still use my head about where I park my ITR and etc., but I dont let the **** rule my life. Just be forewarned your car will be an easy target if you get an ITR.

 

frankly if you lost a integra, you will probably end up losing another one... if your habits dictate that. if this was unusual that you visit your sister (not a habit) its just bad luck.

Well they found it. I guess it was right now the street. They ran out of gas, I'm not sure what happened, my Dad talked to the cops because I was at work all day. They parked in an Apt. complex that my GF used to live it. That complex is prob. about 100 yards way. I didn't have much gas it in but maybe I had less then I thought (my gas light is out) ha.

Now the bad part, I guess they pushed down the window or something, broke the steering column, ignition is messed up, back bumper is dented, stole my itr lip, aem cai, I think one of the wheels is messed up ( I haven't seen it yet, my Dad saw it). So I'm going to have to get the insurance to look at it.

Not sure how much its going to cost. But maybe I can finally get a full oem kit and a new paint job, well see. I'm going to have to look at it next week, I'm going to be very tedious when I look at it too.

Any suggestions on how to handle the insurance people? We have CSD (civil service something). I'll just have to see how it goes.

Oh yea they got them on tape! They were pushing it into the lot so hopefully they can catch them. I'll keep you gus updated.

 

I think if you dont want to race and just want to look good buy a three series bmw

Only if it's an M3 or 330.

 

my gsr was also stolen not to long ago. insurance only gave me 6 grand cuz it was a 96. i still havent got a car yet. i really want to get another integra cuz i loved my car but im too afraid of having it stolen again. i also had my car since i was 17 (now Im 20). Its hard to see her go. How long ago was it stolen? They could still recover it...
