Has anyone taken this light off before? Can the holes be plugged like the rear wiper removal? Any pics?

What the hell for?? it can't weight more then 1-2 lbs....are you super racer?

I run full interior (even the rear wiper) 'cause I know my driving skilzzzzzz could improve more then 15lbs less weight could make....Plus I need to lose another 25lbs myself

I just don't like it, I took the bulb out the second day I had the car and I might as well take it off.
Didn't mean to hurt your feelings

I've had it off for a long time now, Haven't had any problems. I don't think people notice that it's off. --knock on wood--

If you ever get rear-ended by someone they could blame it on the removal of the light, thus making the accident your fault.

A third brake light is mandated by the federal government.

Removal of it on a street car wouldn't be smiled upon by insurance.

There are bigger cars and they are called truck (I think). These bigger cars sit higher than ours. Can anyone confirm that?

If the driver still can't see the rear bumper no matter how high up they are then they should back off, 1 car length per every 10 mph. can anyone confirm this?

Just remove the third brake light, but don't complain when someone rear ends you.

I agree with Jon7 this is stupid, I asked for infomation if you don't know or don't agree with it just say "never heard of anything" or better yet don't post. I've had the three different insurance companies, and it has gotten checked almost every time it goes to the dealer and no one seems to complain. And Reid I am not asking for you blessing, but thanks anyways.

You said you only removed the bulb, people would be more likely to notice the if the light was completely missing.

Also you asked a question and I answered it. No need to take offense.

I think Jon7 was saying that TO YOU. I took it that was and was agreeing with him (or so I thought) that your post was stupid.

Slightly OT but where is that newspaper article from Seattle where some riceboy with clear taillights who got rear ended and was found to be at fault.
I would read that first. I can't find it on the search, maybe it was gone since it was about a year ago when I first saw it.

hey, don't get me wrong that is what the forum is about. I guess I'll just figure it out myself, just though I would ask if anyone else had done this.
