'95 LX exhaust estimate - is it legit?
disclaimer: i don't know much about cars.
i've got a nasty exhaust leak, my car sounds like a rice-mobile and i like it to sound like a friggin' car, it sounds ridiculous.
the muffler and contraption are fine as i just replaced them ... it's just the piece between the muffler and the converter as far as i know. the guy said i need to replace the pipe ($150), the gaskets ($20) and house parts ($8) with labor at $50 putting me, after tax, around $240 ... does this seem ok or should i get a second opinion?

i guess it depends where you are getting the parts from . if that is a quote for oem honda parts, i would say that is about right . but if you want to find a cheaper stock exhaust, used of course, you could try looking for one at the junkyard in ok/fair condition for about $10 .

sorry to be off topic, i am also looking for a stock exhaust, is that exhaust stainless steel ? because it states that it is better than oem quality . does anyone else know any other places to buy a cheap stock exhaust ? the junkyards around my area dont have any available .

I paid(well my dad did for christmas) like 200 for my custom car back because my factory one was rusted to nothing. It's a flowmaster 60 series, 2.5" mid pipe mandrel(sp?) bent and dual chrome tips. I would hope a mid-pipe wouldn't cost ya more than like 50 buck plus maybe 25 labor. That would be high side. Mine cost so much because of the muffler.
seems the prices are legit, You could shop around and maybe find someone to do it less. it depends on how much your time is worth. Of course you can do it yourself but after buying the hardware and pipe you are looking at probably $125 in parts.
