For the OEM bar,You need the swaybar itself and the brackets that mount them to the body and the bolts at the LCA.

The ST bar comes with everything you need to mount it. You do not need Si LCA's because it mounts to the lower shock bolt instead of the LCA

unless you have an 88, then the ST kit should have everything you need.

just get the rear ST kit. Si rear is nice if you dont already have it, but it still leaves room to be desired. you dont really need ST 22mm solid front bar. if you need to increase the front bar, just get a OEM DA front bar from the junkyard. its 22mm also, however hollow, so not as stiff, but that should still be more than enough.

If you are using the DA brackets they will line up fine with two of the bolt holes for the tow mounts, but you may have a clearance issue with the muffler. If you have an aftermarket exhaust your probably fine.

Check out this thread, for the brackets. https://honda-tech.com/zerothre...69188

i was going to ask that, will the ST sway bar clear my 2.5 exhaust?
i read a lot of threads about ST sway bar wont clear but i also read somebody on HT have no problem with 3'' exhaust...which would give me more clearance for my exhaust?

One note about using any stock Honda/Acura rear sway on your DX: So far as I've seen, the DX doesn't have the threaded bosses on the chassis to mount the swaybar-to-chassis mount brackets. I got all the stuff to mount the Si rear bar on my '91 DX, but unless I want to cut, drill, and/or weld, the brackets don't go on... The HOLES are there in the chassis rails, but they aren't threaded. On the Si, there are threads in those holes, so you'd have to find a way to cut into the chassis (through the spare tire well looked like the best bet when I was looking at it), weld a nut inside the rail, and go from there, if you wanted a "stock-looking" setup. Lots of people don't care about such details, but I just point it out in case you do.

I've *heard* that you can turn the brackets around somehow and mount them where the tow-hooks go, but I haven't looked into it yet, so I can't say for sure.

By all accounts, the ST aftermarket rear swaybar is probably the easiest route to go, since it mounts to stuff you've already got. Okay, maybe you need to add the Si rear LCAs to have a place for the endlinks to mount, but I'm not even sure about that.

I'll most likely end up going with the ST setup myself, when I get ready to install a rear bar on my DX.

For clearance, any decent muffler shop should be able to route the exhaust around whatever swaybar you install, with a minimum of bends and hassles.

Just a few thoughts,

Mike

on my hatch dx, it had the bolts there, and they were threaded but seemed like they weren't because they were filled with undercoating. i just ran a tap up them, and voila, there we go.

[Napoleon Dynamite voice] Luckeee... Dang. [/Napoleon Dynamite voice]

On my CRX DX, no such luck. There's just big holes in the chassis (about 1" diameter) where the bosses SHOULD be. Danged Honda cost-cutters!

EF_89: To be sure, definitely check under your car before committing to anything or buying anything. If you have the threads already there, the stock Si setup would probably be cheaper to get and use - lots of Si guys have gone to bigger rear sways! If I could do it as easily as just bolting it on, I'd be all over it; I like the "rotatability" of my '90 Si a bit better than my '91 DX, but I'm weird about having the DX still at least LOOK like a stock CRX, even if beneath the skin it looks more like an Si than a DX! In a perfect world, I'd have it be essentially a sunroof-less CRX Si. But like I said, I'm weird that way...

I searched the same thing when I put a DA rear sway on my DX,only thing I could find was "rumor" the DA brackets are 1/2" longer (hang down more) than the Si brackets, but the couple of different people who told me that hadnt had the two side by side to compare them, only going by "memory". If that is true,it would clear the exhaust a little better than wouldnt it? I have oem exhaust and it comes no where near touching, but if the 1/2" longer brackets is true, that'd put me at 3/4" as I used 1/4" flat bar for the swaybar/towhook brackets.

so you're saying, if the DA is longer than it will have more clearance for the exhaust??
damn, i feel like no matter which way i go, i will have problem installing it (nothing go according to plan), like always

The DA brackets will make the sway bar touch the exhaust. I cant speak for the SI brackets. If you have an after market exhaust you should be fine with either.

Just go mount it and see if it works then report back :-)

I cut out some 3/16 angle iron and made a mount to push the bar back (towards the engine) 1". I just have to weld the DA bracket to it to see if Im good.
