Default Will a different intake filter produce a different sound?

Cause I have a CIA from ebay and you can't really hear it. Well you can but considered to my friends maxima that has a stillen intake on his... His intake is louder than my exhaust!

So what I was wondering is... if I buy the K&N intake is it gonna make a ton of a bigger sound difference?

Actually yes it will make a diference. Not by changing the intake itself, but the filter. The ebay one came with a cheap *** filter that probably doesnt let much as much air go in as a K&N one would. So by putting a K&N filter, ur engine will be getting more air, produce more HP (like 0.01 more) and make more noise.

uhhhhh... no.

the filter does make a difference with how much air will pass through but won't make a difference in sound. e.g. on a g3 -- run a stock intake system without the top of the airbox on.. it sounds the same as a SRI. i've had a short intake and currently have aem cai... different type of filter sounds exactly the same.
