Confused about B18A1
Okay i've got a guy trying to sell me a B18A1.. He tells me it's Obd1. But I thought B18A1's come out of liek 90's? Is there an Obd0 and 1 version of the B18A1?
Do all B18A1's use the cable tranny? And is it always as simple as just bolting a hydro tranny onto the A1?
Basically i'm trying to do a swap on a 92si. I've been having so much trouble w/ the stock single i'm just saying forget it and just find a swap. I never hear tooo many people speaking of b18a1's, only b18b1's. Is there a specific reason as to why? I know this question is real dumb but thanks

90-91 B18A1 = OBD-0 w/ cable tranny (130hp + 121tq)
92-93 B18A1 = OBD-1 w/ cable tranny (140hp + 121tq)
All B-series trannys are interchangeable.
More people talk about B18B's because there are alot more of them, they are newer, and produce slightly more power (142hp + 127tq). The B18A1 was available in the 90-93 integra, and the B18B1 in the 94-01 integra (all non-vtec, also referred to as an "LS" engine).
If you're doing a swap into a 92si you're best choice for an LS would be anything obd1 (92-95) like the one that guy is trying to sell you. An LS from 94 or 95 will be a bit more powerful, but if you're going to upgrade anyway it won't matter much. One benefit to the A1 is that you can get them for dirt cheap and it'll feel like a rocket compared to the motor you have now.

I believe it was the cams and exhaust mani. I'm fairly certain that's it...
