Default PLZ HELP>>> MY 94 Si IS TOO BOUNCY AFTER MY COILOVERS!!!

Hi guys,im new here,i got reffered thru vancouvercivics.com and revscene.net
anyways my problem is i put some apc coilover sleeves for my 94 civic si coupe,i spend 150$ for them and 100$ to install,it was ok,now its been 3-4 months since they are on my car,its about 3-4 weeks my car is so bouncy in the front,i dare to go on a bump, after i go it bounces like a hydrolic lowrider for about 5-10 seconds!!!!! Ive been told that its my shocks, they are gone!!! I also was told if i take them off and put some H&R or NEUSPEED or any brand name springs/not coils it will be back to normal!!!! anyways now my main question is what to do!?!?!

-Should i buy some KONI or KYB or.... SHOCKs and change my stocks?? OR
-Should i sell the no name coilovers and buy some brand name springs, like H&R,NEUSPEED or....???

I know cheapest shocks ii found here in canada is $80 for i think KONI's?!?! which that will be $320+installation....... but if i do springs it will be like $200-250 with install (as i know a shop) !!!

SO GUYS PLZ HELP ME,NOW IM NOT IN A GOOOD FINANCIAL SITUATION,WHATS THE BEST/CHEAPEST WAY TO GO????? PLZ PLZ PLZZZZZ HELP ME

Ur help and advice is greatly appreciated from a new guy on h-tech

**MODS SORRY IF I POSTED THIS IN A WRONG FORUM,IM A NEWBIE

If they're bouncy for such a long time after hitting a bump then it is most likely caused by inadeqate dampening, And since you are riding stock shocks, this means your shocks are most likely blown. I would recommend new shocks as new springs will not fix that problem.

H&Rs will give you a much better ride than your APCs; they're pretty much junk. It may take car of some of the bouncyness; but the real problem is your shocks are most likely blown.

Shocks and struts are both types of 'dampers' (the engineering term). You have shocks at all 4 corners on your car. The 01+ civics have struts in the front. They serve the same purpose, and sometimes even look the same. The biggest difference is you have an upper A arm (you can see it in the wheel well), where a strut design usually attaches to the shock tower at some point.

APC makes something street legal???

When you had them installed, did they cut the bump stops in half or not?

Your springs just change the ride height, that bounce is because your springs are blown. If you're in bind, go get some gas shocks from Kragen (for the time being) save up some money and buy some Koni Yellows. THey're expensive but you won't need another set of struts for years.

I had the 5way adjustable Koni Yellows struts. They blew after not too long with pretty low sportline springs.
Now I've been running on Tokiko blues shocks, and eibach sportline springs. Also, if you want to complete your suspension system, I highly reccomend a skunk2 camber kit. It will make the tire wear even and it will allow for a much much smoother ride.
But if you are low on $$$, I'd say, get tokiko shocks, and keep the coilovers until you can afford springs/camber kit.

i would ditch the coilovers!! also if you decide to go with coilover sleeves again do not get Tokico blues, i blew a set within a week with skunk2 coilovers. now ive realized suspension is one thing i will not skimp on again!!

for AutoXer, last time i checked on my ej1/eg, i had a shock tower at all 4 corners of my car which means i have struts, not shocks and i cant say ive ever heard taht all civics prior to 01 had shocks, thats news to me(?)

Thats not a good attitude to have, especially towards suspension. Invest some money this time instead of cheaping out so you wont have this problem again.
