It's the vss (vehicle speed sensor). I have had a lot of problems with it myself. It runs from the back of your transmission to your gauge cluster. The helm manual is in the garage but it has a troubleshooting procedure for it. You can try and download one or just buy one for $50. Sorry i couldn't be of more help. Maybe someone else can post something informative.

Are you using an electric VSS [electrical connection at the tranny] or a cable VSS [cable running from tranny to speedometer]? What ECU are you using? OBD-1 or OBD-0?

Is your speedometer working at all? Does it flutter?

I've got the same error code with a B16 (PW0 ECU I believe) and a cable VSS. If the ECU is looking for the digital one I could put it back in but then I would need a new cluster plus wiring for the speedo, right?

I think you should be able to feed the ECU the VSS signal from your cluster...I just don't know which wire it is.
