HELP! car wont go in gear!
UPDATE:well for some reason today the car ran normal even shifting a little smoother than before! BUT when I press down on clutch it squeeks LOUDER THAN BEFORE. bout to go to mechanic in a few hours and hopefully its a MCC and nothing in the tranny..should I also change the slave? how do I know if its the master or the slave? thanks
I searched for "go in gear" but "go" and "in" were omitted because they were too short.
anyways
I drive a 95 gsr since I got it shifting has been stiff. but just tonite I was at the red light, when it turned green I couldnt go into first. I tried to shake the shifter around, pump the clutch and tried other gears nothing worked I had to turn on flashers and sit there. turned off my car turned it back on still nothing. after I tried a little more it finally went in first. then I go back home and park with much difficulty. and it feels like clutch is not disengaging even though its pedal to the floor. I cant get the car into anygears without really jamming it in and I feel a slight grind. reverse is a little easier. this is at a complete stop. but when I turn car off, it goes into gears easily..
cliff: car wont go into gear when on, clutch is not disengaging. goes into gear fine when car is off
I think its the clutch fluid or tranny fluid but I'm not shure.. help me please!

well the problem might be in the 'box itself, or it might be the clutch throw-out/release bearing.
have u taken out the gearbox to see what the problem is and if it can be rectified by changing that parts

You know I had the same problem with my civic, and it turns out that it was because i was running low on fluids, so just check em. It worked for me, but it might not work for you. Just a suggestion to get you started. Brake fluid in the master cylinder to be more specific
see the thing is I dont have the mechanical expertise or resources to open up the tranny and look for the problem. my friend said my clutch might be gone but aren't clutches like get weaker and weaker, they just dont die outta nowhere?

what kinda fluids? tranny fluid in the tranny? or clutch/brake fluid in the MC?

Check the tranny fluid and bleed the clutch for starters. Also check to see if your clutch slave or master cylinders need replacement (ie. leaking). If you're still having problems, you'll have to drop the tranny and check the clutch. If the clutch/bearings are still good, you'll have to crack the tranny open. If you get that far, the problems can vary and get rather expensive.
Good luck.

i would start by looking at the simple part of the clutch system. like check the fluid see if its full. then check for leaks in the system. then if that doesnt help then look into the tranny.
alright I've search and read a whole bunch of **** and talked to a few people. I think it's the master clutch cynlinder but my clutch pedal still has pressure/doesnt go soft.. can the MCC still be messed up?
gonna check for leaks around the pedal tomorow...sigh

The owner before my teggy had same problem, gear wouldn't go in and sold his (mine now) GSR for 2k thinking the entire tranny was screwed up. Ended coming home, opening it up and found out a lil piece broke and was rattling inside blocking the gear, took it out and got a 96 GSR for 2g, mint condition. Maybe try that out?

The problem is either the clutch/throwout bearing or something in the line. MC, SC, shift fork, fluid, pedal etc. First step would be bleeding it to see if that helps. But sounds to me like you need a new clutch.
I'm helping Jeezer post since he ran out of posts
"strange thing guys, the car goes into gear now, even drives fine. but there IS fluid around the boot near the firewall. I put in some brake fluid for now since it looks kind of low. gonna bleed the clutch to buy some time.
mainly: clutch seems to work fine, but sometimes have a hard time DISENGAGING
anymore opinions?"

ok well i change the MCC today. still same problem. but this is the strange thing, sometimes the shifter WILL NOT go into gear, sometimes it WILL WHEN I STAB IT IN, and sometimes, ITS SMOOTH AS HELL!.
my mechanic told me its my clutch that needs to be changed. but what I dont understand is how come sometimes the car drives/shifts perfectly, no slips or anything.
sometimes i put it in first and turn on, the car starts and dies out, then if i start it in neutral it shifts but very hard.
when i start the car in first sometimes its a normal start, then the rest of the drive is smooth.
i think its the pilot bearing like someone said already but i guess i should buy a clutch+flywheel just in case, and might as well upgrade once the tranny is open.
will posts updates when i can that way people can use this thread as a resource
