Cricket noises from wheels
Wondering about a noise I've been hearing for a while... Sounds like a chirping cricket or bird, coming from my left rear wheel area. I was replacing my rotors anyway for brembo crossed/drilled, replaced the brake pad, and the noise stopped for a while... it's back now, and only once and a while when I'm going 5-10 mph. My friend told me it may be the retainer spring keeping the caliper away from hitting the rotor. Maybe that's way off, but it would make sense because if it was leaning on the rotor the new brake pad would slowly wear away. If that sounds completely wrong, please tell me, what do you guys think??? THANKS
i think i have the same problem, you hear a creaking noise like the chassis or something when you're moving from a stop right? i think this noise became more apparently after i took off the rear brake pads for inspection...not sure what it is...
my integra is doing this too.
Its the brakes... Im putting my money on the outer pad draging while going down the road slightly due to a slider or something.. and what I think is happening the pad is forming a glaze from the constant rubbing(ever see the glaze on pads?) it might be in only the little spot thats touching but i think thats causeing my squeek going down the road.
as soon as you even lightly tap the brakes, it goes away.

if you are sure the sound is coming from the back, and you can hear it 5-10mph. just lift the back up and turn one wheel at a time, you should hear which one it is....
vtecluder97... you're exactly right. I lightly tap the brakes and it goes away. It's really annoying... already ruined that left rear rim (stock) because of rus build up that sprayed from the rubbing brake pad. New Velox rims are on the way anyway... just an annoyance. Should I go and get it checked out? Or is there something I can do myself. Thanks guys.

if you getting uneven wear from your pads, more than likely your pins aren't lubed up correctly. unlubed pins=sticking calipers=cricket noises from wheels
just pick up some crc synthetic caliper grease. it's the best stuff you can get. slab it on the back of the pads, the shims, the guides, and the pins.
