Just received my JDM B16A SIR engine, but need help...
I'm taking on a B16 swap into my 91 CRX HF. The engine arrived recently, but I noticed that the TPS sensor, knock sensor, and starter is broken. When going out to the parts store, what kind of vehicle should I tell them I need parts for? Should I say a 94 Delsol VTEC or something?
The wiring harness on the B16 was cut way too short. Should I use the HF harness and figure out the wiring for the rest of the B16 connectors? Some of the HF connectors do plug into the B16 ones.
Where's a good site to go to for more info regarding wiring?
I have HASport mounts on the way. Shift linkages, axles, and throttle cables are problems I still yet have to address.
Any help will greatly be appreciated!
Thanks for you help!

looking at all your problems i'd say the tps and wiring harness are the biggsest issues. i woudl buy the wiring harness form hasport and save the headache. now the tps is tricky b/c it has to be adjusted to the proper voltage (huge ******* pain in the ***) so on that, i would just get a new TB for liek 75 bux. and for axles you can use 91 integra axles.

1. 90-93 integra starter.
2. all tps sensors are same.
3. if you got enough of the SiR harness (w/ resistor box) maybe you can mate it to your HF harness.
4. else get a 88-91 PGMFI (Si) harness and add the vtec solenoid, vtec pressure, knock, 2nd o2 sensor.
5. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=120678
6. good luck on the project.

Pain? You just adjust it to (Don't quote me on this, but off the top of my head) like 0.5 ohms, and you're done. Go to the junkyard with a battery powered dremel, and dremel one off of any 88-91 civics or 90-93 tegs.
Keep you stock wiring harness!!!! do not get an SI harness. Hf will do just fine... That is what I did. if you dont want to do the vtec wires and etc, then by through hasport the $75 harness, you dont need the whole thing, only dxs need new harnesses.

any honda tps except 88-91 dx, they turn backwards.
ok so try one then. i tried all day and mine still registers 103% throttle when my foot is to the floor.
Regarding the TPS sensor; I managed to take the TPS sensor off of my HF throttle body, seems to be exactly the same! So this problem solved.
What about the knock sensor? I don't think the HF engine has a knock sensor. From which USDM engine would I get one of these?
The starter will come from a 90-93 Integra LS? Right?
My SIR harness was cut way too short. I don't have the SIR injector resistor box. Can I use my HF resistor box? If no, which one do I use?
My HF wiring harness plugs into most of the B16A connectors, but I guess I'm going to have to wire up the VTEC solenoid. I assume the pin out on the HF PCM is the same as the SIR PCM? Is there a website somewhere that would have a good pin-out diagram?
What about the timing belt and water pump? Are all B16 engines the same? Will a water pump and timing belt for a 2000 Civic Si work on my SIR b16? If no, then which USDM B16 has same the same parts as the JDM SIR B16A?
Thanks again to those that helped!!!

For the knock sensor, I would go to an Acura dealer and order one up. It will be the unit off of a 92-3 GSR integra.
The starter depends on what trans. Excluding a YS1, you are correct.
Yes you can use your HF resistor box, and the HF harness. You'll have a couple wires left with no where to go from the EGR system, and you need to add in four wires and a couple grounds for VTEC. Check out http://www.hasport.com for more info on wiring.
Yes, the timing belt and water pump form the newer B16 engines will work.
You're aware of the hubs and axles that you will need?

Would there be any problems if I run the engine without the knock sensor?
Hubs and axles; haven't really thought about them yet. Any recommendations other than what HASport has to say about the axles and hubs?
What about shift linkages? Should I just buy the HASport one, or is there another cheaper but good alternative? And the throttle cable, I guess I'll go with what HASport has to say regarding it.
Other than that, I think that's about it. I just received the HASport mounts yesturday. I got their new aluminum mounts, they look awesome!
Thanks again for you help!

hubs will have to be off any 88-91 si. and you will get a cel without the knock sensor. on the shift linkage you could just add a few inches on your stock one or get a 90-93 integ one but you will have to shorten it(cut and weld). if you got the money just get the hasport one though. good luck
It will be easier to just get a pair of steering knuckles off of any Civic/CRX except the HF or std. hatch models. All the rest are the same - sedans included. THat is, unless you find a 90-91 Civic EX sedan. Those knuckles are different - they accomodate bigger brake rotors. If you find a 90-91 Civic EX, get those! Also get the calipers and rotors.
Anyway, I believe you can run a non-OBD B16A without the knock sensor. There is no error code I know of associated with a non-OBD B16A ECU (PR3 or PW0). I've got a UK B16A Helm suppliment and there is no mention of a knock sensor at all in the wiring diag. or ECU schematic.
As for everything else, yes the resistor box will work, yes the B16A ECU will plug right into your HF, and yes your HF harness will work. You will have to peel off some e-tape and route some sensor wiring to emerge from the harness in a different place to get everything to reach.
For more random B16A-in-a-CRX, I've put up some info that most everyone else neglects to tell you about....
